How to hide your name in Gmail
You might not always want your real name displayed on emails you send. As an example, you might want to hide your name when sending somewhat anonymous feedback or contacting unknown recipients. Although your email address will still show, this only identifies the Gmail account and not necessarily your true identity. By default, Gmail uses your first and last name on your Google account, but by configuring a "Send Mail As" address, you force Gmail to use whatever name you choose.
1-Log in to your Gmail account.
2-Click the "Settings" gear icon and select "Settings."
3-Click the "Accounts and Import" tab.
4-Click "Edit Info" next to your email address in the "Send Mail As" section.
5-Click the circle next to the blank field in the Name section and type your preferred display name. You have to enter something in this field, even if it's just a period. If you leave it blank or just enter a space, Gmail reverts back to the name in your Google account.
6-Click "Save Changes" to hide your real name.
Someone asked me how to do this, so I did some research and posted it here as a Blog for any one else to access.
I can't say I have ever used this but recently I received a reply for a car we are trying to sell. I replied only through the Sell and Buy platform so my email address was not visible. This person wanted very badly for me to reply to his or her personal gmail address instead of the selling website. I refused as I suspected a scam. (It was). In case you ever need this, here it is in a Blog.

Good to know! I too have a gmail address, not my name. For such uses!
The first time though my name showed unbeknownst to me. Now it doesn't.
Great info. Can you also provide instructions of how to hide your Google tel # when directly calling a prospective recipient?
