How You Are Hurting Your Wealthy Affiliate Site
This is something I have seen over the past couple months since I joined here at WA.
Getting people to comment on your website/commenting on people's website.
Is this okay?
Yes and no.
Empty comments are a no-no, and should never be typed by you on someone else's blog post.
You might as well say nothing.
If you read someone's blog post then it would be nice to go in to detail to give the blogger an inside view on what your thoughts or experiences are in regard to what was just written...
Not just....."good post", or "I like this post".
You don't want to just read the words just to read the words.
ABSORB THE WORDS!
As you are reading make little mental notes as to how this relates to you, or create an opinion or stance that you have regarding what was just written, and then write out a well thought out comment.
Great bloggers love comments like that.
Why? Because that's what the comment section is for. Total engagement between the blogger and the reader.
As if they were sitting at a coffee shop having a conversation with each other. Kyle mentions using conversational speak in your blog posts. You should absolutely use them when commenting on another person's blog post. Be the same person everywhere you type.
And if your well thought out comment begs a question then guess what? Bloggers love that even more because they will be able to return a well thought out answer. :)
In addition to a well thought out comment...if you are reading a blog post that pertains to your niche then you can take that well thought out comment, and expand on the comment and literally turn it into a whole blog post for your website!
Also, if you are asking for comments on your blog from here within WA make sure that you only approve the relevant ones.
If your website is about health and fitness, and you are asking for thoughts on your website layout here within WA.
You don't want someone from here within WA commenting on your website "wow your website is looking great..some things I would do is make the sidebar wider, the header bigger etc <<example"
......on your post that is all about making your pecs bigger in the gym.....
Those kind of comments should be seen here within WA.
Someone that just landed on your website could read that post and see the first comment "wow your site is looking great..." and be utterly confused about the first comment that has nothing to do with making their pectoral muscles bigger..
And it could actually keep that reader from commenting.
So to sum it up....if you are engaging with the actual content of the post...refrain from bringing external topics into your comment, and don't even mention WA if you can, and just type out a well thought out comment that the blogger will love having on their site.
Remember once you type a comment and submit it, it could very well be there forever...depending on how long the website lasts...so provide some value in your comment as thanks to the blogger for the post. :)
If you are looking for blog comments look for engaging comments that other possible readers can engage with too. Don't approve irrelevant ones.
And keep the small stuff such as critiquing website layouts etc here within Wealthy Affiliate.
That's all that needs to be said.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

This is very true and I would have to agree. It is quite annoying when you just get a one or two word statement from a reader when you provide so much information.
Comments are ways to start discussions and make our websites (blogs) better. How do comments make our websites better? Well, if a user leaves a comment with feedback, we can take that information, use it, and tweak the website to make the experience better for future readers.
Thanks for this post.
You are exactly right and you nailed it on the head. It's a great way to get audience insight so you can give them what they want with each and everything you do with your blog to create your loyal following.
You're welcome for the post. Thanks for the thorough comment :)
