Small victories in blogging, winning at Pinterest
So today I'm celebrating. It's sunny and warm, myself and my family are healthy and it's Sunday, what more of a reason could I need?
I'm so glad you ask... the tertiary reason why I'm celebrating (think of it as the icing on the cake) is that my Pinterest posting strategy (thanks, @magistudios for your great tutorials) is that one of my personal pins, linking directly to my blog has been re pinned!
So some background...I undertook to use Pinterest as social media marketing for my most recent blog (#3 if you're counting, although #1 well and truly bit the dust years ago due to my lack of knowledge and support - long prior to the Wealthy Affiliate days). I have a bit of time on my hands at the moment (I'm furloughed), and I'm using the time to explore potential passive income opportunities for when I've complete finished work (I handed in my notice to my corporate job a month or so ago).
I'm not completely without tools here, firstly, there are the website building, SEO developing, social media marketing skills that I've gained through Wealthy Affiliate over the past few months. Combine those with almost 15 years in the corporate world and an MBA and I'd say I'm ready with tools at hand to give entrepreneurship a real shot.
Moving on thenToday's excitement comes from the first time, and I'm sorry for those of you who aren't analytically driven, but I'm on the blue / red boundary of behavioural dimensions (think Jungian, but if you don't want that much detail, look here: http://www.ucd.ie/t4cms/Personality%20Categories.pdf) I had one of my personal pins reshared by someone else on pinterest!
To add to the excitement, the post that was reshared was one of my best, it is in excess of 5,000 words and encompasses the best of my explorations for moving from the corporate world to entrepreneurship.
Small VictoriesLike the pennies adding up to dollars, or Euros or Pounds, the way I see it, all these individual small wins add up. So, while it's motivating to track quantifiable successes that you can directly influence (for instance my goal of having 60 high value posts on my site by the end of July). It's also beneficial to look out for the small victories that are outside your sphere of influence, like someone responding to a tweet, liking a Facebook page, commenting on your YouTube video or repinning your unique content on Pinterest!
So - to all the small victories! Don't forget to savour them when they occur as part of your journey. It means you are doing something right and the audience is trickling in!
