Blog number 4 purchased. now to sharpen the pencil!

Well... I've just dipped my toes in the waters of purchasing a website on Flippa :-)

It's a great domain, 4 years old, always in the same niche with a nice layout and dreadful content! 71 posts of terrible content to be precise!

Multiple valuation methods put it averaging double what I paid for it - so I'm pleased with that. I'd love the WA perspective on prioritising rewriting the content. In particular, I'm going to be rewriting everything over the next few months but should I:

  1. Rewrite best ranking posts first?
  2. Rewrite best keyword posts first?

And finally (short and sweet today - I've got to work on my day job in a few minutes!), is there a benefit to reusing existing URL pathways - or should I start from scratch?

For example: theblog .com/the-science-of-muscle-building/ has been around for 4 years - if I craft an amazing piece should I use the path? Or make a new one?

Cheers for your views!

PS - the domain isn't theblog .com :-)

I would start with the most trafficked pages first and update them. They must not be all bad to attract that much traffic.

I would also keep the existing URL pathways right now. That's what's ranked within Google, so take advantage of that!

Congrats on your new site.

Thanks Jeannine! I will do as you advise.

Thanks Jeff!

Do you have an opinion on whether I should reuse existing URLs?

1

I wish I did, Lisa, but I am only promoting my own products. I think many others will weigh in with their opinions! I would say that you might analyze the traffic, and if it seems to be good, then you simply make those URLs your own!

Best success to you going forward!

Jeff
