Narrowing My Niche

When I first started my website, one of my concerns was having a niche that was too broad. For those who don't know, my niche was tailored toward providing resources and information to entrepreneurs and small businesses.
I'd picked something general, because I was scared. I really didn't want people in my community to know what I was doing. Part of it was a fear of failure. If they knew I'd started a website and it was a dismal failure, I'd feel a bit ashamed. The other reason was I didn't want to be seen as competition for my company. I figured if I cast my net wide, it wouldn't matter, because my company's net was very specific.
Now that I'm starting my own business, I can't let the fear of failure keep me back. If I do let that fear keep me back, then it'd be difficult to advertise my services. No advertising of services = little business. With my company closing its doors, there's also no reason to worry about infringing on turf.
Rather than casting wide, I'm casting locally. I still plan to share general information. The main difference is sprinkling local keywords into my posts and pages.
I'm thinking I might even go back and update some of the older posts to be specific to my areas.
