How to not make an obsession of google analytics

Hello !

Well, I think I've been here for a month now. The site is up. 10 posts and 4 pages later, I'm watching webmaster tool and google analytics everyday. mmmm... I think I have to stop that, and just write and work in the right direction. Is it my choice of niche or keywords ? I am just impatient ? I am not sure, but there is barely any organic clic. Yes, 2 perhaps... I was so excited ! But they bounced right off the site. So, before I will make any income, I feel it will take a long, long time.

Once it starts ranking, is it a little bit smoother ? Oh dear... maybe it will never rank adequately... all that work !

It is exciting, very much ! I love the work, I truly enjoy it, but I have to give a break on the ranking obsession and hope that it can be real.

That's all I had to say about it ! Perhaps I am not alone in this situation ?

I'll keep you posted when I'll have ... 2 more organic visitors... !

Wishing you all great success !

Don't quit when tomorrow could be the break through.

I'm told it can take 6 months to gain traction with the search engines. Submitting a site map can make it happen a bit sooner

thanks ! 6 months seems like a long time, and short at the same time. I submit my sitemap and fetch as google on webmaster whenever I have a new post, i feel it is coming along. I have to learn how to read webmaster tools a little better, I don't understand all the terms. Success to you.

It absolutely takes time. Don't worry at all that you don't have much traffic yet. All the successful sites start at zero too!

I watch Google Analytics all the time too even though I know I shouldn't. It gives me great motivation when I see a few organic visitors every day now though! That can be all it takes to make sales depending on how good your conversion rate it and how good your keywords are.

It is interesting to see what is working by looking at where the visitors come from on Analytics. Are they coming from social media or organic searches or referrals (from backlinks on other sites) or directly from WA perhaps?

What posts are they going to? Then I can see on Amazon how many clicks I get (if any) each day and how many sales (if any). I can see how much time people spend on different posts, see which posts are found through organic searches and on and on.

Thanks for your words ! I did not get any on Amazon, and barely on my site. I will need to find tips to stay motivated... It is going well, I believe it will work.

Google Analytics provides us all with the affirmation and feedback we need to feel that our labors are bearing some fruit. You're right about it being an obsession....to the point of distraction. We're not writing for google, but for our readers. I look at GA sometimes but I'm more into the paraphrased philosophy of Field of Dreams:

If you build it, people with come.

Warren

Thanks Warren ! distraction is a good word to describe GA. I will follow your suggestion... build it build it build it !

Have a great day
