First 6 months at WA - my ups and downs journey.

As part of the training where I'm currently at is to write another success blog post. I've been delaying the writing of this post for a couple of weeks. Funnily enough I got back to this post today, only realizing it's been exactly 6 months to the day since I joined WA. It's a sign I must finish this post!

I have definitely learned a lot during my time at WA and created a good-looking website I didn't think I was capable of creating. I have also gained a lot of courage in terms of being social (i.e. using social media platforms, which is not my favorite thing) and finally, I have learned a lot about the possibilities the online world has to offer.

It's been six months of ups, ups, ups, then some downs and now ups and downs.

Yes, sometimes I am struggling..

I started the whole journey very enthusiastically, but over the last 2-3 months, some of this enthusiasm has subsided and I have found myself struggling a bit more to keep working for my website.

There are several reasons for my struggles:

1. I am expecting my first baby, so needless to say I am slightly distracted by other things. I am still working full time so keeping up with my day job as well as with my website while being pregnant is at times hard work to say the least!

2. I haven't enjoyed level 4 of the Online Entrepeneur Certification training, mainly because I have found it hard to do all the social media stuff. I guess the little introvert inside me just finds social media interactions very uncomfortable.

3. I am not really getting any traffic on my website apart from the valuable visitors of the WA community. Thanks to you guys! This sometimes brings me down. However, I trust that I will start seeing some traffic in the coming months.

My action plan

Since I have struggled the past few months with my website, I have decided to come up with an action plan.

It is very simple: I'll put as much energy towards my website as I feel comfortable with, first focusing on my own rest and well-being :)

I have decided to stop stressing about traffic, how much I post on different social media platforms and when I am going to make my first sale. I will just take it as it comes.

However, one promise I have made myself is to dedicate a small amount of time daily for my website, even if it's just 5 minutes. Small consistent steps lead to success.

At this point in my life, I have more important things to think about (i.e. the baby), so the majority of my energy will go towards this big life changing event that is about to hit me and my husband.

I am really excited though that I already have a great looking website, so the foundation is there and I know my website will find its audience.

Thank you guys!

I must conclude by acknowledging the great WA community. I have received valuable help from more experienced members here and I have been reminded that it takes time to build success. Be patient, keep working on your website and success will come.

A good reminder for everyone is not to compare yourself to others as all of us have different life circumstances and we all do what we are capable of doing at this point in our lives.

It is also good to remember that we are all pretty awesome, as we're here at WA and working for our futures ;)

As I have often been reminded by fellow WA members, a great way to motivate yourself is to read other members' success posts. This I think is a great tip. There are great things to be achieved here.

Wishing everyone much success,

Lotta

Keep on pushing

Thank you, will do :)

Thanks for sharing Lotta, and kudos to you for being so honest :)
merely judging by your name, are you Swedish by any chance? :) (norwegian here).

I've been a member for more than 5 years now, and have gone through the ups and downs like everyone else. Also have a full time job, but found that the times I have the longest pause on the online business was actually when I was on mat leave with my son and then with my twin girls....I had fully planned to ramp up the writing when I got off work, but the opposite happened...ah well, onwards and upwards we go :)

In regards to your "social media anxiety" - are you using your normal facebook and insta account etc? the reason I'm asking is that I was feeling the same, kind of like I didn't want to 'bother' my friends and that...so I created completely separate accounts for my business that no one I knew had awareness of...keeping business and friendship separate, if you will. I am no expert of course, but i found it a lot easier and just part of the job once I created social media accounts specifically for my online business

lastly - a massive congratulations on the baby!! your life will never be the same again!! :):)

Cheers
Karina

Hi again - just checked out your profile....Finnish, not swedish...ah well, not too far off then ;-)

and I live in Australia too, how funny :) I moved to Sydney in 2004 to study; hubby and 3 kids later, I am not moving back anytime soon.
Whereabouts in Au are you?

Hi Karina! Nice to meet you! Yes Finnish, but I have a Swedish name ;)

Thanks for the congratulations! Yes a big life change ahead, but very exciting! Ha, it’s funny to hear about your mat leave experience! :D my plan all along has been to increase my writing then too, but I guess it might not go as planned ;)

With regards to the “social media anxiety”, as you so well put it, I don’t use personal accounts. But for some reason, I don’t like posting or promoting my stuff on social media. Maybe it’s a fear of judgement? It does get easier over time, so I just gotta keep at it. I think I’m just a very private person, so “being social” doesn’t come naturally to me.

Funny coincidence that you’re in Aus too! I’m in Brisbane, beautiful climate here.

Thanks for commenting :)
