We send our best from SC. Our prayers are with you.

I heard about this. Not good. My prayers and thoughts to all affected.

not getting any reports of injuries, power is up, was a 5 point something and took out power and communication for a little bit - gotta love my okies - one said "not like we have anything big enough to fall over" lol - tough lot them :) lots of after shocks though - freaked me a bit because there are clusters of them out east here, and 2 in bc last week so now i am expecting a big one somewhere :( at least for this one everyone is ok - the snow storms have been doing more damage - sheesh :)

I'm in Altus Oklahoma, just on the NW corner of Oklahoma. We didn't feel it here.

good to know, its lame how little news we got up here about it - about the same strength hit christ church and a cliff fell over - news galore - go figure. as far as i can tell the damage in the south was minimal - and still, no injuries i have heard of. they go out of their way to not panic the public - but they forget hysterical li'l ole ladies up in the tundra worrying about her friends down there. so far so good though, i made a lot of calls and most everyone seems to be back online now, so i am breathing again. did i mention i tend to fuss a bit when my friends are in perceived danger? i gassed up and grabbed water ready for a road trip for more than one flood down south, lol :) slightly overprotective :)

Be safe.

Thoughts are with you and all those affected :)

Felt an earthquake here in Kansas this morning that originated in northern Oklahoma. It definitely rattled the house and things inside of it. It was measured as a 5.1 and the largest ever recorded in Kansas was that magnitude back in the 1870s!

thank you, in the last day i have lost contact with about 1500 people over various means and servers in the states, most in the midwest, nebraska and kansas, seem to be just gone, a few oakies have checking in- i am just having a stroke - could be power failures - not that long ago i had headed to a basement myself - alarms and storms unsurpassed - i panic easily - i can take care of me, and my friends here - as soon as i cant reach some one though, i just have a stroke - lots have not checked in, so i am in momma mode, freaking out and gassing up the truck for rescues - have dodge ram, will go on a road trip - even from here. trying to breathe, loading the truck with water though, i will come down there if they need me - thank you so much though, please let me know what you hear

There has been like a 300% increase in earthquakes in the last 6 or 7 years in this area which is very unusual. They generally have been small, but at times you can feel them. They've really started increasing when the drilling for oil phenomenon known as hydraulic fracking started booming in southern Kansas and in northern Oklahoma. The drillers use water to release the oil in rocks below ground and then put the waste water deep underground which has some geologists saying it has started going into old fault lines causing them to rattle or shift. They are trying to put some limitations on this type of drilling for that reason. It is very nerve wracking especially for an area more used to tornadoes and hail than for earthquakes.
