Power Of Words - And Social Media

This journey begins in September of this year. I was looking for a company to build me a website and came across Desert Design out of Arizona. This is a smaller company outside of the main corporation company Carlson Online Technologies, in Utah.

Being on S.S. I, (Social security income for the disabled,) I didn't have much, but somehow manage to scrape together $297.00 to buy a website. Basically that month I chose to not buy my groceries and some necessities. Instead, I bought my site, but please don't worry I am the type of person who stock piles food and necessities, So I would have plenty for that month.

They told me it would take a week to have my site done and up and running. This I believe because of my experience here in WA. After a week and a half with no word I started calling.

The first day someone answered and I was told they were in a meeting so as soon as someone was free they would call me back. I waited all day and no call The next day I called and was told the same thing, and again I waited with no call back.

The third and fourth day I call I got no answer. I did leave message after message. On the Fifth day the phone was disconnected. I then called the main corporate office and within a day someone called me back, and the process of returning my money to me began

I got my money back five days later, and another call from the main corporate office to make sure I got it. As we were talking I told them that I still wanted a website but would never go through Desert Design again. Cathy told me they had other company's and would honor the discount I got from the other company so that I would not have to pay $1.000 dollars for the website.

Of course, I said YES, but I also laid down rule's as well. I was not going through what I went through with the other company. My experience was not the same as the one I dealt with in the other company, but still it was not a good one.

Now remember I was not a WA member at the time I did any of this.

The new company I went through is Alpha Online Services. They told me it would take seven days to complete my website and I would only pay $292.00. So I signed my contract. Just a little FYI for you. Whenever you sign a contract online make sure you take screen shots of what you are signing,

Now I forgot to take my own advice and do the screen shots. This company never did send me my signed contract, I had asked several times for it but could not figure out why they would not send it.

I finally got my site on the fifteenth of that month and I was not impressed.but knowing that I could add more products than just three then I would manage. They are the ones who did my tech support and hosting for $20.00 a month. A lot better than Shopify.

Want's I got into my back office, that's were the troubles began. I could not put anything up on my Facebook page for it would not let me. I could not get into my affiliate site to get more products. Tech was contacted multiply times. And to me seemed as if they didn't care for the problems never got fixed.

Upon the twenty-first of October I got a call from my couch, and he asked if I was ready to start advertising so that I can make money. Of course, I said Yes, who wouldn't. He then asked how much do I have to spend on advertising, and I said non. He promptly and quickly said, Well call me when you have money for advertising then we will talk, and hangs up on me.

I was confused and angry at this point so I called the main corporation. It took Cathy nine days to call me back. She e-mailed me a form I filled out to cancel my site and get my refund back and I did that on the thirtieth of October.

Now I am going to back up a moment and to let you all know that on October 22nd eight days prior to me canceling this website I became a member of WA.

I received a call from my so called couch on November 13th, fourteen days after I canceled my site so that he can go over my contract first before anything happens. He told me to pull up the signed contract that they sent me, and I told him I never got a copy. That I had been requesting for weeks for it.

He blamed it on a possible glitch in the system and said he just resent it to me. I knew I was being recorded as he made mentioned several times on my nice signature. I got the contract and it looked different for the one I signed was long and the one I was looking at was a one-page contract, with my signature, How is this possible?

Giving me the excuse that he forgot his glasses at home if I could read the three paragraphs one at a time and sum them up for him, That he would be great full. I told him he knew exactly what it says and that basically this company was going to screw me out of my money and all the tech problems that were never fixed were my fault and I hung up on him.

I was so angry that a company can be so petty and deceiving that I did something that even shocked me. The three company's that I have been discussing in this article have one thing in common. They are ONLINE COMPANY"S.

I got into my archived e-mails, and found one that this company had sent to me and I sent a reply. This is what I wrote

I will never refer anyone to your company;s again. In fact, I will be going to all social media groups and posting a full blog on how all three company's have treated me. You have lied to me Stolen from a disabled woman, and blamed me for things you were responsible for. I will also let social media know that these companies's have a habit of switching your contracts so that no one gets their money back. I would never treat my customers that way. Basically you screwed me

After writing that e-mail I got off the computer and took my med's. I went to bed earlier then I normally would have, but I was not feeling so well that night.

When I woke that morning I got up and back on my computer to check my banking account to see if I had enough to get some groceries. I was shocked to see that $292.00 had been refunded to me the day before. I guess they didn't like the ideal of me going to social media with this.

Now my WA family I ask you this. Even though I did get my money back, and yes I had to send the e-mail with the threat of going to social media to get it back. What would you do? Would you drop it or post it to social media sites so all will know.

Keep in mind that social media is a powerful tool, it can make a career like what we are doing or it can very easily destroy a career and business.

It was hard but I am glad it happened because now I can share it with others so they don't have to deal with it

Lori,

I would review those companies on my website blog! Perhaps a niche would be Affiliate marketing scams, I hope you have websites through WA now so that you don't have to go through all the BS you went through before. Best success to you getting it all sorted out!
