I contacted WA Support and asked them which was the best WP plugin for Wordpress 4.2.2, (the latest one at time of writing), to limit login attempts and thereby reduce the risk posed by hackers. I also asked about changing the username.
WA Support were brilliant and I was really grateful for their reply.
I have copied and pasted their response below, as I suspect that I am probably not the only person concerned about this matter and other people will no doubt find it reassuring and helpful:

"Hi Brandon. We already have many sophisticated measures in place on our servers to limit login attempts and block botnet dictionary attacks against your wordpress admin area. These measures are already far more effective than any wordpress plugin you could obtain.
You need not install any plugin for that we already have that security measure configured on our server and regarding the username you can create another user and give it Administrator privileges."
I hope people find this helpful.
All the best,
Brandon
