Help! I have lost my focus

Last Update: November 07, 2020

Hello wonderful WA family.

I Hope you are well?

I have lost my focus, my mojo, my subject has become so blurry it doesn’t seem to make sense any more.

Why is this happening? I had a plan, it has been followed more or less to the letter, a little flexibility here and there to make things interesting. Now though I cannot see the wood for the trees and I feel like I’m drowning.

The Niche, Health and Wellness. Millions of topics to write about, a never ending supply of subject matter you would think 🤔. Yet I cannot think of anything to write about. This is where I feel I need your valuable help and support.

What’s been happening. WA has been my savior of 2020. It kept me sane and gave me focus during the lockdown back in March, April and May, during this time I also had bronchial pneumonia and couldn’t work my day job on the telephone.

Doing the training and writing gave me something to focus on and it didn’t bother me that I could not go out, except for essential medical attention or for food. I left the house 3 times in 14 weeks. The husband did the shopping, we were not allowed to travel outside together.

Wealthy Affiliate has the best community/family, so helpful and supportive in times of need and helping each other to move forward. It has taken over my life but in some respects to the detriment of everything else. Maybe I need a break for a few days to be able to re focus.

I would appreciate your thoughts and help as to some subjects to write about please.

Hoping this meets your approval @MarionBlack 😂.

Going to leave you with this quote.

“ Be of service. Whether you make yourself available to a friend or co-worker, or you make time every month to do volunteer work, there is nothing that harvests more of a feeling of empowerment than being of service to someone in need.”
Gillian Anderson

Hello Lisa. Taking a break might assist. I find this sometimes happens to me when I have unresolved or pending issues at the back of my mind. Taking a break to deal with the said issues before getting back to work usually works wonders. Hope you find a solution.

Hi there,

I had the same experience with my first website. I felt overwhelmed and couldn't focus anymore. The problem was that my niche was too broad. I had to break down the subject, which I did, and it really helped. My website was about sailing holidays, and I had to choose which country I would focus on. I've chosen Italy:). But this may not be your problem. I hope it helped.

Hi Lisa,

I feel this way too. I have a lot of ideas for what to write about but have trouble focusing. Even though we have this community and platform which is so helpful, I feel lost sometimes. I took most of the weekend off and I feel a little better now. I hope you do too!

Take a break. Maybe a few days, or maybe a couple of weeks. Whatever is necessary. The internet is most definitely not going away in the meantime. I have been following your posts for a while now and know you have done a huge amount of work.

I used to work as an internet development engineer and after 20 years or so, got totally burned out. So I have a pretty good idea where you are coming from.

Another possibility is starting a new project. Perhaps something outside of WA. In my case, I always figured I'd need several websites and niches to make any amount of reasonable income. Not sure what the best way to do this will ultimately be (it takes me longer to research an article for WA than to actually write it - this gets rather taxing at times).

Aother idea. I am an avid photographer and have a website at terrybabineauxphotography.com. I never expected to make any money from this site, but it is where I point people when they want to see what sort of photography I do. Perhaps you have some hobbies or other interests you can put up for people to look at without worrying about keywords, word counts, etc. I use a service called SmugMug for my photos. (Also a good place to throw up some affiliate links, but so far, I'd like to keep my photo site relatively "pure".) I could use Facebook, but the lifespan of a typical Facebook post is pretty short. People will quickly move on. My hope is that my photography work will last for at least a while...

Hope this helps.

Best

Terry

Yes, I think it's normal to come to a point where your brain needs to rest.

But, I have found that Google Alerts on different topics, emailed to me daily, sometimes help to get new ideas. I think another thing is: What is important to you or others right now? What do you need to hear? Maybe that's what your visitors need to hear as well.
