WA Seniors: Will You Share Your Success Stories?

I'm in the process of writing a cornerstone article for my WA bootcamp site (RetiredAndEarningOnline.com). I would love to showcase some inspiring senior success stories for my retiree readers.

I know we have a thriving community of seniors/retirees here at WA because it's a brilliant fit for seniors (and many others :))

Will you share your successes below?

All contributions to the discussion are welcome whether you include a link to a previous success blog or write a testimonial you've been putting off.

Know that both current and future retiree members will sincerely appreciate your motivational stories and revel in your success.

Thanks for joining the conversation. I applaud your efforts and wish you all the very best!

Happy Blogging,

Linda

Best wishes, Linda :)

Thank you, Carol. I see you're a fellow retiree as well. Congratulations on completing all five levels of training. Your site is coming along really nicely. I hope you're enjoying the venture as much as I have? Good luck to you!

Oh, thank you, Linda. :) I hope for your success here too, Linda. It has been quite a steep learning curve coming from an era that didn't have computers!

Hi Linda,

The most inspiring senior success story for me is my mother Pam Burns. THE FIGHTER, now aged 79.
27 years ago she was diagnosed with melanoma and they took a chunk out of her calf muscle. Unfortunately, they didn't take enough and the cancerous melanoma reappeared 10 years later and not isolated. It traveled throughout her body. And 17 years ago, the doctors and specialists, who were highly regarded here in Sydney at the time, gave mum 3 months to live.Mum refused to give in so they chopped into her leg again and took out her calf muscle.
They injected her with her own cells (somehow extracted?). These we stored in small vials in the freezer. But things kept getting worse because it spread to her lymph nodes, lung, and brain.
They took out her lymph nodes.
They took out the top third of her right lung.
She underwent chemotherapy on her brain for an extensive period of time.
One leading medical practitioner, before he retired, used mum as an example in conferences and lectures.
AND guess what? I am going to see my mother today, live and not in the cemetery. She is struggling now with dementia but that has only come on about 3 years ago. And to be expected, I suppose, with all that chemo being applied to her brain.
Many people who felt sorry for my mother 17 years ago have since passed on while my mother still manages to eat a chocolate cream custard everyday.

Good luck Linda hope all goes well.

Hi Brad,

Your Mom sounds like an amazingly courageous woman. Definitely a fighter whose will to live is very inspiring. I guess I was expecting stories of blogging success, but I appreciate you sharing this intensely personal story. You're blessed to still have her with you, and I'm happy to hear she's still able to enjoy some simple pleasures.

Thanks for commenting and good luck to you as well!

Thanks Linda

Thanks for sharing, Linda.
