The best way for traffic coming to your site is content. That is quality content of more then 500 words for the niche you are in.

Jay always reminds us at his weekly WAbinars that content is king in Google. There are some other factors that will also help to get traffic and some of these are:

Page Title - No more than 60 characters
Meta Description - Less than 160 characters.
Every image on each page has an Alt Tag description.

You can check Google Analytics to see if anyone is visiting your site pages. You can focus on the pages that get most of the traffic.

These are just a couple of ways in which you can monitor your success. Again, have quality content that is not duplicated and you will get ranked in Google and traffic will start flowing to your website.

There is one caveat, you must have patience. It may take a week or more until you see traffic coming to your site. Once you do, go into Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools to get more information about the traffic that is visiting your site.
