Three and a half months at WA

Hi all! Thought I should check in and update my progress. My rankings have been slipping i have noticed, and it is actually because I have been so busy on my site mostly with building an email list. Yes! I have begun the list building process by offering a free thing in return for people's email address.

So far it has been working a treat and I have been getting one sign up a day through free advertising in social media. Google Plus has bought me the most traffic for this whenever I post in a particular group I am a part of. I have sent two newsletters out so far and the open rate at this point is around 45%, and those emails have been getting clicks within them for affiliate links, but no sales yet. But I am pretty happy with my progress on this, however, I feel I need to find another way to get people's email address that is more leveraged.

What I mean is, I have been offering free Tarot email readings to get people to subscribe, and those free readings have been taking up so much of my time, so much so that I have dropped in google rankings for keywords, as well as organic traffic as well as dropping at least 150 rankings here at WA. Not too worried about WA rankings, however I do find it a useful way to see how much I have been moving forward with content on my site because it seems the more blogs I write the more I am naturally engaging with the WA community.

There is a plus side of building an email list this way though because I am personally engaging with these people in an intimate way therefore getting to know them a bit rather than just offering them a free digital download and that is it. If anyone has a coaching website, the list building could work in the same way-offer a free coaching session in chosen niche and get their email address. Great way to build rapport, but very time consuming. Will keep you updated on this and see if it results in more sales further down the track.

But I feel split on what I should be focusing on. Part of me thinks it should be top priority to build an email list because that is building my tribe and fans. Yet another part of me is just thinking about the passive income potential of a well ranked site after many product reviews-yet that seems like a slower way to make sales. However, I do know that I want my site to be about much more than affiliate products. I want to sell my own products further down the track and do launches and webinars and all those good things that top internet marketers seem to do.

What to do?

Anyway, I am loving being here and I have so many big plans for my site and my whole way of life.
