I would first upgrade in WA. There is much more value. Plus you get a larger selection of themes to choose from.

You should always be running the latest version of WordPress, which is 6.2. You're unlikely to get more tools, just better security and bug fixes.

You don't need that know. What are you upgrading to? Most plugins and themes will have an upgrade option, but you don't need those typically...though some will reveal new features.
