...Higher Education...more specifically, adult higher education, think of places like the University of Phoenix. I have 20+ years in the industry and have been everything from an admissions rep to a faculty member to a campus president. I can honestly say that I absolutely LOVED working with students, faculty and staff. Absolutely. Loved. It..

However, that particular industry is a real grind (like 12-14 hour days M-F and most likely working over the weekend as well...). It doesn't bode well when you're a single mom with (5) kiddos.

In any event, my point in sharing a little bit of my professional background is the fact that there are a couple different things that drove me crazy...things like not really being able to share with students how they could save a TON of money (you know...because it would mean a decrease in revenue for the respective school) and a TON of TIME.

For example, what adult learner, or even traditional learner, wants to spend a bunch of time and money on general education credits? (My apologies to the english/algebra/history/etc professors/faculty here on WA.)

Most students are totally unaware that they can earn those same credits by taking CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exams. Yep...roughly $90 (give or take) for each exam. When you pass...BOOM! There's (3) college credits towards whatever gen. ed. exam you took. I have yet to meet one college admissions rep or academic counselor who will openly share that information with you.

SIDE NOTE: I'll include the link to CLEP at the end of this blog for anyone who may be interested in learning more for themselves or a family member/friend. And for the record...you cannot be an affiliate for CLEP so there's zero monetary value in sharing this info.

In other words, students can save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars per CLEP exam that they pass. Not only can they save $$ but they save TIME. I would argue that TIME is the #1 reason many adult learners do not complete their degree.

Anywho...without rambling on and on about this particular topic...I'm needing your advice on whether or not you think there could be a potential niche in creating a blog about how to help this particular "niche" group of students save time and money?

And as promised...here's the link to CLEP Exam Info: https://clep.collegeboard.org/exams

Yes, I think a site that walks people through the process would have huge value to people.
I would suggest a guide given away for an email signup.

I'm guessing you might monetize through college promotions.

Great suggestions! I have found a few affiliate options that I believe would be of great value to current and/or future students...now to think of a catchy url address....

Thanks so much fo your response!

Lisa

Are you a CLEP tomaniac?

That actually made me laugh out loud! Maybe I should research that site name! Haha!!

I would think that some training manuals for specific tests would be well received.
That is the way that Pat Flynn got started. He provided teaching materials for the LEED exam for Architects.

I know that CLEP offers free online training but I could probably develop a quick 10-question quiz per subject area that would let someone know how much (or how little) they would need to study the subject matter in order to pass.

I also thought about your original comment regarding monetizing through college promotions. That’s actually a REAL opportunity I could embark on.

You definitely have my wheels turning!
