Embrace yourself

Can you imagine being bored?

Do you go through times where you have lost interest in things you use to enjoy doing?

We tend to do unhealthy things when we are bored-

  • Late night (throughout the day) binge watching movies, television programs, mindlessly "browsing" or scrolling social media.
  • Eat unhealthy items: comfort/junk food (usually at night).
  • Use alcohol and/or chemicals (prescription or otherwise) to "feel" better- especially in group settings, or a "closet" user.

It is okay to feel "bored"- acknowledge it, embrace it. Instead of doing any of the above 3 bulleted items, take time to address your boredom.

Relationship with yourself-

Do you have a self-care routine? When we have moments of "boredom", I think this is the opportune time to have "alone-time"- to be reflective. I liken it to "writers block" - if you have to write something down, use your senses.

Instead we tend to use the above listed items. We ignore ourselves.

When we acknowledge our feelings, we are acknowledging ourselves. Do not try to cover up your feelings or numb them.

Goals

The importance of goals is not so much to achieve, but the steps it takes to achieve them, or in otherwords, "it is not the destination, but the journey along the way"

Climbing a mountain-

Who is climbing the mountain? You? You and a group of friends and family members? What is needed in climbing the mountain? Good health, previous skills? Supplies?

When will you start climbing the mountain? After the kids are raised, after elderly parents are taken care of? Are they climbing the mountain with you?

Where does the mountain lead to? Is it a place of waterfalls and clean clear skies? A place where only LOVE lives.

Where do emotions come from?

Heart

It starts in the heart- Desire for better relationship with ourselves, each other and our environment. What causes your heart to beat? Desire travels to the mind and becomes a thought with feeling and becomes emotional intelligence.

The desire to treat yourself, others and your environment better each day.

I am just pouring all that is in my head out-

My client I was working with developed pneumonia and is in the hospital.

Lately, I have been struggling with times of depression. I lose interest and become "bored" and I have turned to the 3 things listed above.

I decided not to binge watch today, or eat junk food/comfort food, or use other ways of blocking my feeling-sending out a blog

Great post

LOL part of this is the story of my last night. I was hurting badly in my injured shoulder, up all night feeling sorry for myself and depressed and culminated with washing a pain pill down with 4 scoops of ice cream at 7 AM this morning before I finally fell asleep.

I hope you are feeling better now :)

Sleep helped but I am bipolar so I get these moods often and your tips help.

Pain is inflammation in one or more areas in the body. We live in a world where if we just take a pill things help, but it is only temporary. Have you tried heat or cold packs for the inflammation?
I have abdominal and lower back pain that shoots up into my neck and shoulders. Nerve damage in a few places. Heating pad helps. I do take anti-inflammatory Motrin, and in the past, prescribed narcotics (codeine, Vicodin) that only seem to make me feel "lazy" or really sluggish. There is also some creams that help with deep tissue pain.
Some really great YouTube channels that focus on pain relief, I haven't looked into treating bipolar but I am curious.
Family history of severe depression-dad's side (manic depression)

Also, website (WebMD) has great information on knocking out inflammation with specific foods. Fresh is best. There are also specific foods that help with insomnia that do not interfere with medications.

Yes, I have been through a lot of holistic remedies as I hate taking pills. The shoulder is healing from an AC Joint separation and I am now taking 800mg Ibuprophen for the pain and inflamation.
