I'm not so overwhelmed anymore.
It has been an interesting journey so far. I was messaging a fellow newbie who was in the exact same situation as I was a couple of months ago. Overwhelmed...frustrated.....and feeling like I was spinning my wheels and going no where fast. Thank you all for your help pushing me out of that rut. Here is the message I passed along to her.
"I plan on making more than just a few bucks. I'm working on my first website and it is definitely a challenge to learn all that is required in order to make it successful. And there is a lot. I didn't come from an IT, programmer, or designer background. You and I are lucky to know as much as we do about a computer!
I hate to repeat what many other affiliates say, but here it is in a nutshell. This is not a get rich quick plan. Patience and persistence rule. The free work now will provide the income later.
I have been here since November 21, 2014....5 months. I took over a month off for personal reasons so I've really only been working on my site for 4 months.
I work on my site about 4 or 5 hours a day including education. I am no where near a monthly income but that is my timeline. I need to add more content, tweak my site, and add more content....yes I did say that twice. Content is essential. That takes time.
If you are feeling overwhelmed right now it is because there is so much to learn and we want to do it all yesterday. How frustrating. Not to mention as we age our memory doesn't cut us any slack either. Something I learned last week becomes a brand new lesson this week. It's harder. But it's doable. And there are many Wealthy Affiliates here that will help.
So if you are able, focus on the classes. Work on your website. Learn everything you can about marketing, social media and SEO. It is really amazing the information that you will come away with in just a couple of months.
As far as figuring out all the buttons on the left side of this screen, don't give them a second thought until you are comfortable.
If you really want this business. You will succeed."

I totally agree! My biggest issue now is time - I don't have the time I need to work the way I want to. The trick is to stay calm and keep on working. We will all get there - if we just don't give up!
