A Moment to Breathe ...

In what can sometimes be a juggling act, do you sometimes find that you aren't getting to the things that are priorities. Its all a balancing act to be sure, but something that many have found helpful is to tap into music.

I don't play an instrument. I sing!

Harry Belafonte, 1947

But someday I want to learn the piano as it has been a passion of mine since the third grade when I was taking lessons from my school's music teacher and loved what I was learning. I would stay in the auditorium after my lesson and practice as we did not have a piano at home. And I would play and practice and be so engrossed in what I was learning and doing that time would escape me.

And then, Mr. Lima Beans, the gentleman who was our school custodian (this was the only name this little 3rd grader knew him by), would come and tell me it was 5 o'clock and I needed to get home. How I loved that piano and how I loved the simple music I was listening to as it left my fingers into the keys and then came back to me as a melody. And how I hated that I had to go home when I wanted so much to stay and keep practicing, keep playing! In time the school told my parents that I couldn't practice there any more. I was walking home, a bit of a distance for a third grader by herself, and today I understand their concern, but then, back then I was crushed.

I have never lost my love for the piano.

I enjoy a certain pianist and composer whose music, when I listen to it, causes me to sigh deeply. I feel it almost as soon as the first bar has begun to cross my ears. I draw in a deep breath and find that as that breath is exhaled, calm sweeps across my face and my heart. A calm so profound that in an instant I am relaxed, really and truly. That always amazes me, and it happens each time I hear certain of his compositions and orchestral arrangements. The artist is Yanni.

Today I found another amazing musician. He is 17 years old and makes the viola sing. You may want to find one of his works to create that moment to clear your mind, change gears and heave a great big sigh of relief. Don't forget that you are truly wonderful and what you are going to create or ARE creating here in the Wealthy Affiliate community IS wonderful!

So is this lovely music from the strings of Jeremy Green. Enjoy this moment, a moment to breathe....or two moments if you care to indulge! "-)

I like yr post and thanks very much for sharing the videos. :)
I love music but I am not good in any musical instruments. :( I just watched this Jeremy's video, wow, amazing young boy!! I will share with eldest daughter who loves music, thanks!

Hello Jewel! So good of you to come and spend a quiet moment watching the two videos I have shared. Its such a joy to see a young one embrace music and an instrument as Jeremy has done. He is also trying to encourage other youth to take up an instrument. Gotta' love that about him.

I hope your daughter enjoys the music too.

Hey, Linda, it is really great to know you. I hope everything is fine with you. No stress, lol. :) Anyway, I like yr blogs. ;)
God bless you richly!!

When I was a kid, my dad bought a piano. I learned to play with correspondence lessons and my younger brother and sister and I would sing for friends and neighbors when they came to visit. Yanni is good but back in those days, my favorite was Liberace!!!!

How wonderful that your father brought music into your home with that piano. I can here your and your siblings singing and enjoying one another's company. Yes, Liverace, I remember him, too. I loved the pic of Bellafonte, what a voice he had.

Thanks for dropping in to share a moment with me!

Linda

Thank you for sharing. While I never could play, I could listen to Yanni all night. He really does calm the spirit.

Its truly remarkable how his music does this, it washes over you and envelopes the heart and brings that calm. So wonderful!

SOOO glad it was a good sharing for you!

What a beautiful post and one I can relate to somewhat! I have desired to learn piano since I was a child. We never had a piano but when we were at relatives houses where there was a piano I was always tinkering with the piano. I too really enjoy listening to music. It is as though it is a part of me and breaths such life into me. Thank you for introducing me to Jeremy Green. He really is awesome! God's Blessings, Christa

Sound like we may be cut from the same cloth, desiring to learn piano but not having the means to do so. I can see you as a child when at family or friends with pianos sitting on the bench and tinkering away. Brought a smile to my face!

Very glad you have enjoyed Jeremy.

Hi. My our post reminds m that I would like to play the guitar again. I think I shall look into that and nourish my musical self. Thank you.

Love hearing that! Nourishment of this sort, oh so good for the soul.

After 2 months of stressing out trying ing to find a job, and moving at a slower pace with my training than I'd like due to slow Internet...well and the stressing out thing, yesterday I finally took a moment to breath...underwater. it's been way too long. Got some good photos for an upcoming blog post.

OOOOO...I can't wait to see them. I will hold positive thoughts high for you that you turn the corner soon AND that the light gets brighter as you get closer to your goals.

THIS brought back wonderful memories of breathing...underwater! SPLENDID!!!

Thanks for your comment and sharing with me.

Linda

Should be a few days. If I stick with the training it looks like I need to write another product review next. I'll be sure to blog it here.

Awesome! I will keep my eyes open for it. Write away and enjoy the creations you bring to the surface. "-)

I do play the piano and went up to grade 7 practical and grade 5 theory.I got enough of it though and I had not interest in doing grade 8.I teach a little now and it is handy to bring a little money in.

How awesome is that! Knowing something well enough to teach it is wonderful I expect you have music in your heart! "-)

Very inspiring story. Thank you very much for sharing.

You are welcome Loide. I am humbled that my little ole' post touched you as you are ever a positive influence here, and encouraging. Thank you for being you and sharing you with us. "-)

Linda

Thank you for sharing this inspiring story with us! Yeah, I notice it with myself lately that I can't get myself to do stuff. I watch upbeat movies for inspiration. I ordered two books to get a better understanding the law of attraction. I'm very excited to see what results I'll produce after reading those books.

You are so welcome, Muriel. It is great that you are digging in your heals and doing some reading and looking for inspiration in movies. Finding inspiration is part of the oil that keeps our development machine churning, hopefully churning out the pages and posts for our websites that will result in connections and traffic...well our lessons too.

You will find your way because you have a good attitude and approach.

Thanks for letting me know this touched you in a positive way.

Linda

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and the youtube.

Your welcome!

Have a lovely day full of many smiles!
