If you click on either Pages or Posts in the menu and mouseover any with missing comments and click Quick Edit you'll see options to enable comments. :) Rich.

The only thing I can think of, is to look under appearance and general settings. Find out where your comment section should appear on the page.

Did you update your theme of your site

Try on your dashboard
Setting>Discussion if "comments on articles" allowed is checked

Did you change any settings anywhere? Also, on the site here type in the search bar above "comments". You will get some training there. I hope this might help you.
