Unsolicited Phone Calls

We all have had these, telemarketers who want to sell you something and do their best to keep you on the phone as long as possible in hopes of selling you what they are pitching. Now, I understand that they too have to make a living, but a “no” is still a “no” and I am not going to change my mind.

Before I found WA, there were a few sites that I had put my cell number……mistake. I usually do not pick up the phone if I do not recognize the number. My reason is, if it is a bill collector or relative and it is important, they will leave a message for me to get back to them. Now, my downfall is I try to be polite when I am on the phone, but sometimes you have to be just plain rude.

There was one instance several years ago when I was driving that I got a call on my cell phone. I put it on speaker and answered. Yes, it was a solicitor.Now, I cannot remember what they were selling, but I made it quite clear to them that I was driving and that I would not be able to complete any sale today (of course, I was not going to complete any sale at all with them, but they did not know that). Well, this very ballsy sales lady says that she will wait for me to pull over out of traffic for me to give her my credit card number. My response “I think not” and I hung up without saying another word.Of course, she tried calling back, but I did not pick up the phone.

Now my cell phone is ringing constantly. Once when I did pick it up (Yes, I should have known better), I was told that I qualified to have someone work one on one with me in order to get my site up and running and for it to be a money maker and to be one of their success stories (sounded good). When I heard what they wanted, I almost chocked. Yea, that was not going to happen. I politely told them that I did not have the funds to continue or to have someone work one on one with me (pity). I explained that I currently was between paychecks and would not be able to participate at this moment in time.

Well, I am not sure what the 800 number was that I have answered, but my phone has been ringing every hour with numbers from Texas; Arizona; New York; San Diego; Paramount, CA and an unknown number, just to name a few (and I did not leave my number on that many sites).

For a lot less here, I am getting all the training that I can handle and many, many people who are willing to answer my questions, give words of encouragement and point me to interesting articles to read. What is also nice is that if (hope I read this correctly) I come into financial difficulty, I can cancel my membership and return later. No pressure except what you put on yourself to succeed.
