What Is In A Name? My Rookie Mistake!

When I chose a name for my original website, I obviously didn't do enough checking. The name I wanted was taken, but I got a .com domain with the same name with hyphens. I knew that wasn't idea, but I thought it would be okay. It isn't!

If I had gone online and put some similar names in, I would have realized there were many sites with names that are close to mine. So if you type in my site's name, it is always far down.

My posts show up okay if you are looking for my keywords, but people tell me when they try to go to the website it doesn't come up. And having tried it myself, I know that is true.

So here's my dilemma. Buy a new domain? Or keep going with this one. I have enough posts I don't want to lose that content, and I really don't want to rewrite them enough that google sees them as unique. And what about the people who are going to my present site?

I understand there is a plug in that will redirect traffic from one site to the other. I guess I have to check that out as I'm not sure exactly how that works.

So newbies, learn from my mistake! Check how many sites there are with very similar names before you choose your domain!

I saw a post that tells you how to transfer posts and pages from one website to another. Try putting it into search for the info.

Thanks, I'll do that.

You shouldn't need a plugin to redirect, this should be possible through your registrar

I'm not sure what you mean. How would I go about it?

I'm obviously not good at names. I wrote this and didn't sign it! Keith
