Roll With The Punches?

Animals have always been my passion. I'm a retired RN (after 30 years) turned dog trainer. My greatest joys have been training dogs, especially Search and Rescue dogs, and hiking with my dogs.

For the past 8 years or so, I've found moving harder and harder, and I have been getting short of breath doing small movements around the house. So last March, after being fully vaccinated, I went looking for answers. Internist, cardiologist, pulmonologist. What was I told? Nothing wrong with you!

I finally went to a local family practice doctor, and said "I think I have MS and I'm tired of being told there is nothing wrong with me". Yay! He paid attention and ordered all sorts of tests, which got me referred to a neurologist and finally a rheumatologist.

Persistance pays off! I finally feel as if I am in good hands with my rheumatologist.

Turns out I have multiple autoimmune diseases--the most serious being sarcoidosis. I'm a nurse and had never heard of it!

My dog and I had to retire from K9 Search and Rescue several months ago (I haven't told him yet). I just couldn't do it physically any more. I hike with the dogs every day, although it's a struggle. I started on an antiinflamation diet (basically don't eat anything you love).

No more pizza, sigh.

I will get to a better place physically!!!

Wealthy Affiliate has helped me in many ways, and now it is helping me be productive when I'm more limited physically. I still train dogs, but giving up SAR with my dog was very hard.

Life is different, but still rewarding. I'm determined to add some new goals (working more on my webites is one, writing blogs about my journey with sarcoidosis is another, moving as much as I can every day is one my dogs encourage me to do).

What is my most important take home message? If you feel you have something wrong with you--don't take "nothing wrong" as an answer--keep looking. And when you find there is something wrong--don't just roll with the punches, get up and fight! Maximize your health!

I am glad that you were persistent in your search for your malady. It is not often that you find a doctor willing to go to the lengths your doctor did. I hope you recover quickly and that you will be able to resume your training for search and rescue. It is a role not many people can fill.
There is a book called The Lost Herbs that may have some solutions for you. The woman who wrote it was diagnosed with MS when she was 25, by 29 she was bedridden. She started researching herbs and now leads a full life with 2 children.

Thanks. I will check out the book. I appreciate the suggestion.
