Finally Ranked #1 For A Keyword
So I finally have a post that is ranked number 1 for a keyword in Google. The Google dance is a tricky one but I am finally seeing progress.
I have been on page 1 for months (which is good enough for consistent traffic) but I wanted to taste that coveted #1 spot.
How Long It Took
The post was published on 1 December 2018 so it took almost 6 months to reach the top. I thought that it would happen much quicker than it did, because the keyword was low volume and low competition (Average Searches - 50; QSR - 21).
So even if the QSR is zero, you can't expect to rank if your website is still new. You get thrown to the back of the line and must just wait it out.
I’m glad to have finally reached Number 1 now and it has given me a concrete case of how long it might takes to rank for other keywords.
There is obviously still no hard and fast rule about how long it will take to rank. I have older posts that still aren’t ranking, and a newer post which from March which is overtaking my pillar post which I published in November.
Patience is the key
As many have said here before, you just have to remain patient and trust the process. That, I believe, is the hardest part.
I have been checking my ranking for this keyword every day for the last 3 or 4 months. I am hoping to get to the point now where I can just publish a post and forget about it until I see a surge in clicks.
Some details about my website.
For those who want to know, my website was created at the beginning of October 2018 and I only really started posting with some semblance of frequency in January. The website is in the Make Money niche and I am at about 30 visitors a day from Google. There are currently 39 posts on the website.
Reaching number 1 for a keyword feels like a major milestone. Now to just wait for more of my posts to rank highly.

Congrats for getting there!
Just curious, did you buy a fresh domain when you created your website? Or did you go for an old domain with already a good DA score with it?
Great job! Congrats on the milestone. As you said, now to get more. The faster and more often you post, the more chances you have to get more people, which is then compounded :) Good luck!
