We Are What We Decide To Be
Living in a small rural town you become accustomed to things that never change, decided factors of your environment, your family, your town, and its past. My neighbors will be the same people for 25 years, the run down stone two story building on the corner of main and the rural highway it adjoins to will still be empty and vacant 10 years from now, and every spring and fall the success or failure of the local high school baseball and football teams will be the highlight of storefront gossip. Living here is familiar, comfortable, decided.
Yet within the fabric of such a complacent, common lifestyle I find an urge to spread my wings. No matter the past, or the absolutes around me I have come to realize through trial and error that I decide who I am, and what I'll be. My successes and fulfillment in life rest on no other shoulders than mine. Whether in this life I find myself rocking on my front porch in this country town, or sinking my toes into crystal sands on some exotic beach it will not be the place that defines me, nor the things that complete me. No, instead it will be the reckoning each morning upon opening eyes greeting emerging day that I will be what I want to be for that day. I decide.
The title of this post is a quote I came across the second day I began researching affiliate marketing. It has played over and over in my mind, is now written on a chalkboard next to my desk, and will be the crusading mantra I persistently reinforce to myself in the coming days of pursuing being an online entrepreneur. I have sought for a home business niche for some time, and I'm ecstatic I have found it.
In final thought and encouragement to all working towards their own personal goals here, I say this: don't let time, place, family, or even your past decide what you will be. Take action, and make your own decision.

What a great quote. I am currently on a journey of self-discovery to find out who I am and what I want out of life. Given I'm in my mid-40's it is about time I did this. I have set really lofty goals for myself this year as I don't want to be in the same rut I have been for years come next year. If I don't change this, it won't change. I am stealing this quote for me this year!
