What is High Definition
High Definition screen displays start at 720p, the 720p stands for 720 progressive scan. The picture is display using 720 horizontal lines of vertical resolution. Full HD is 1080p which has 1080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution that are displayed. The 1080p has a higher resolution which can give a clear picture. The MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptop computers which have the Retina displays can display images with 1440p which boast 1440 horizontal lines of vertical resolution. You can see that the Retina display has twice the resolution of 720p and 1.33 times the resolution of full HD(1080p). The graphics card in your computer must be able to generate signals to support the resolution that you want.
