Monthly vs Yearly Wealthy Affiliate: Which One Is Better for Beginners?

When I first joined Wealthy Affiliate, I started on the monthly plan. At the time, it just made sense. I wasn’t fully sure what I was doing yet, and I didn’t want to commit long-term without seeing if it actually worked.

But looking back now, I realise something interesting. The difference between monthly and yearly isn’t just about the price. It’s about how you show up.

Why I Started with the Monthly Plan

Like most beginners, I wanted to test things out.

I was thinking:

• Does this actually work?
• Can I really make money with this?
• Is this worth the investment?

So monthly felt safer.

There was less pressure, and I could cancel anytime if it didn’t work out. But there was also something else happening that I didn’t notice right away.

The Hidden Problem with Monthly

When you’re paying monthly, your mindset naturally shifts into short-term thinking. For me, it became:

I need to get my money back this month. That created pressure. Instead of focusing on building properly, I was focused on:

And if I’m being honest, I wasn’t as consistent as I should have been. That’s probably why it took me about four months before I finally made enough to cover my monthly subscription.

After that, the membership started paying for itself, and I stopped questioning whether this works. That’s when I realised: This isn’t about making quick money. It’s about building something that works over time

When you switch to a yearly plan, something different happens. You’re no longer asking: “Should I continue next month?” That decision is already made.

Now your focus shifts to:

• Building step by step

Which One Should You Choose?

If you’re brand new and just exploring, monthly is a good place to start. It gives you the chance to get familiar without feeling locked in.

But if you’re serious about making this work, and you already know you want to build something long-term, yearly makes a lot more sense. Not just financially, but mentally.

My Honest Recommendation

If I could go back and give myself advice, I would say this: Start monthly if you need to. But don’t stay there too long. Once you see that this is something you want to pursue, switching to yearly removes a lot of hesitation and helps you stay focused.

At the end of the day, both plans work. The platform doesn’t change. But your mindset does. And from my experience, that’s what really makes the difference.
