Picking a Website Name

I was sitting here, reflecting what has happened over the last week or so since I joined wealthy affiliate and what I have noticed with regards to the names of my sites. Prior to joining own ravencawing, passionforsustainability, ogelia, and rhaidho. As I started working on things I felt I was better off to break off one of my topics into another niche. I've compiled material for years and just need to make it usable.

I needed another website:

Somewhere in the first course it talks about websites, niches, and naming. I played with a name and put it up at the siterubix url. Then the more I thought about it I thought it would be well worth going ahead and seeing if the brand was available. It was so I registered it.

As soon as I had my counter up and the basic pages in place- an hour maybe the site was getting hit hard. No nothing much else has happened yet but it looks like I'm getting tons of valid users as the are signing up as site users and having dealt with spammers over at raven cawing for awhile I'm totally shocked.

I never knew a website could be hit so quickly and not even be indexed by google- that site nutritionalexplorations.com it has to do with name. I say this because its only been there about a week, I'm working on content but right now it's shallow.

I'm not sure on the best way to pick the name for your site, it does seem the more obscure the less likely to hit. For instance, rhaidho is the least hit site I own, probably the most underdeveloped to so that might play in. Followed by Passion For Sustainability but its a .net bought it before starting here, decided to just stick with it. Ogelia and Raven Cawing both get a similar hit rate. It surprises me as I only put anything on the Ogelia site after starting here. However, nutritional explorations seems to have an amazing draw, I think passion for sustainability would if it was the .com but its not.

Do you have multiple sites? What's your experience with domain names?
