2 for 1, a unique feature on wealthy affiliate

Even if a lot of people have written a good post on this topic I would like to add some thoughts I had lately. First, let me explain what this 2 for 1 is all about. This is especially important for the people who have signed up on Wealthy Affiliate recently.

Why you need comments

You need comments on the posts you write. To say this is easy enough but to have it happen is an entirely different chapter. First of all, I should better explain why you need comments. Google likes it, it is as simple as that and it helps you to rank better. You spent a lot of time on writing and researching. Then you publish your post and wait. You sometimes wait a long time and that can get frustrating. You do not have proof that anybody really liked your post as no comments are to be seen. Especially when your website is still young this can happen and you might think for whom am I writing actually?

One of the great features of Wealthy Affiliate

Being a member of Wealthy Affiliate you have access to a very special feature. You give 2 comments on other peoples posts and your request to get one comment is guaranteed by doing that. I personally think this is a brilliant system everybody should use on a regular basis. This is an interaction of the website owner and his visitor. I like it when somebody asks a question and the ensuing conversation that follows. The more comments you have the better. It is added to your post making it longer plus it shows Google you have something important/helpful to say. All this is positive for ranking.

I have observed a couple of things which I would like to mention to you. I think it would improve the interaction on your website. As a coin has 2 sides lets start with the website owner and see if some improvements can be made.

As a website owner, you should do a couple of things which are important

When you get the notification that you have received a comment, be it through the Wealthy Affiliate system or from outside, you should answer if possible within 24 hours but at least within the 48 hours after receiving the notification. It is a bore to your commenter to have to go back to a website multiple times to see if the comment appears there. Do remember, as a website owner, not to leave you visitor hanging. A great plugin is the Comment Approved Notifier Extended. If you do not have it, consider installing it on your website. Wealthy Affiliate members are notified that a comment has been approved but a visitor from outside has no idea till they come back, if they do. With this plugin, they will be told you answered and come back in most cases.

Using a name makes a big difference

When you see the name of your visitor do use this name. It definitely makes it more personal and the visitor will feel talked to as a person. On Wealthy Affiliate, do not dis-authorize the comment if you do not like it, as it will upset the person in question. Sometimes a comment is a mix with feedback, this often happens when new people start making comments. Remember you probably made the same mistake when you were new here.

On Wealthy Affiliate people do their best to give a good comment because after all giving 2 they get 1 back. If you really do not like the comment, try to contact this person, if necessary with the help of Site Support. Give them the chance of rewriting their comment. Remember you can always edit a comment after you have put it on your website. The same applies for your reply, it might contain some mistakes, let Grammarly take care of that. When you receive a comment try to be nice, we are all here to learn. Do not forget to always reply to a comment.

Being the person who leaves a comment there are some important things to not forget

When you think this might be an interesting post you can comment on, write a word or 2 in the comment box. Like that you have reserved your place as it can sometimes happen that after reading the post you click somewhere wrong. Then everything disappears and you are presented with a new website and there is no way to go back to the previous one. This clever tip comes from Wendy.

You are supposed to read the post which is presented to you. If you think you will not be able to comment anything sensible or halfway intelligent, then do not try it. Ask for a new post. There are posts in many categories. It has happened to me. I refused quite a few till I saw one I liked. I think it is of no use to try and force yourself into writing something. It probably will be noticeable in your comment. When you read a post, it is a good idea to have a pen and paper ready, write down a few key words while reading to use when writing your comment, it does help. Normally it takes me between 15 to 45 min to finalize this whole procedure. Do not make your comment too short. In case you need some more words just think if the text has some relation to your life. You are welcome to put in something personal as long it fits into what you have read.

If the website owner does not sign with his or her name, take the trouble to go to the About Me page. Often you will find their name and additional information which might be useful in writing your comment. A comment is strictly on the text. In case there is a pretty photo you can say that but do not write half your comment about it. A comment is not a feedback on photos, layout etc. If you do not agree with the opinion of the website owner you are welcome to say so. The main thing is you do this in a friendly way without using "strong" words, you know what I mean. When you finish writing your comment do not forget to put your name, it makes it more personal.
