Site Content Struggles
After all the excitement, I find myself feeling a bit low and discouraged. Yesterday I started to work on the content for my website but after a few sentences I was hit by a massive writer's block.
I am by no means a writer and my chosen niche is something I thought would be pretty straight forward so I am struggling to understand why I suddenly cannot seem to find any meaningful words. I am disappointed to be experiencing this difficulty.
Just wondering how long it takes for you to complete writing about yourself and what your website is about as well as how you overcame similar challenges if any?

Hi Em. If you do a plan if what you want to write about it becomes easier to expand into a blog. For example, I write a heading for my blog (Keyword phrase) and then I write down as many ideas about the topic as I can. Most of those ideas become headings and sub headings. I then write down as much as I can about each idea. finally I write it all down in site content and expand as I go. Then I leave it for a day ( you can start another blog at this time ) , and go back and check if I've missed anything the next day. If you're having trouble thinking of the initial ideas then do some research on a competitors site. You can't copy their work but you can get some ideas from them. Jim
I believe most of us suffer from writer's block at some time or another. It will get better as you go along.
When I have writers block I'll take a break and clear my head or maybe work on something different.
You're not alone, it happens to me every day too :-) The important thing is to just write. Most days I start out journaling and write what ever I want to write with no regard to topic, grammar, spelling etc.
I could be writing about a problem I'm having, something one of my daughters said or did the day before. I might even write about how I'm just not into writing at that moment. You just have to get into the flow of writing
The other thing is to not put pressure on yourself to get your first draft perfect. Write knowing you may delete the entire draft and be okay with it. Sometimes you will delete it, other times it turns out better than you could have imagined. Quite often there's a lot of good stuff you can use but also a lot you end up getting rid of.
Another strategy is to picture who you're writing to. Don't write to the world. Write to a single person. I've heard of some who write inside their email editor because it's comfortable. When you write an email you're usually writing to a single person, and someone you already know.
I have "avatars" I write to, the ideal person who is in need of (and is ready) to hear what I'm writing about. It could your ideal customer so to speak. Their stories are written out, how old they are, where they work, how many kids they have and what their kids are doing. I know their fears and frustrations and so on and they have a picture. When I write, I write directly to them. I'm not writing to anyone else. The world may read what we write, but you're not writing to world :-)
Hopefully that helps...
It’s OK sometimes you just have to take a break and step away and come back to it with clear thoughts on what you really want to do to make your writing interesting to others. Some days it can be challenging but when you feel it’s a challenge go for a walk on a nice day it will help you clear your mind.
Writing about my self was a little difficult for me too, I did not have a very exciting life, so what I did was to write a little about myself and about my job and what I would like to accomplish in my online business which was to be helpful to people,
And in just blogging I Google the subject or topic and find important facts to write about.
Don't worry it will get easier in time.
I hit blockades all the time. Sometimes it's writer's block. Sometimes I can't figure out what I am supposed to do next. I think everyone has that happen one way or another. One theme you will find throughout WA is that you have to keep on going. This is work!
But you can always ask for help.
And sometimes it is good just to take a break. Do something else. Take a walk.
Some WAers are helpful in giving advice for writing about your niche. Go into the question bar (at the top) and search writing for some blogs about that topic.
You can do this.

Thank you all for the very helpful suggestions. I ended up leaving it for the entire day yesterday and hope I can resume with a clear mind.
I will make sure to follow the suggestions given here.
I was worried about looking at competitors' websites but now I know I can at least to get an idea of what I can include on my site.
It's also very helpful to know I can ask for help from my WA family. Many thanks.
