The Orchid Analogy

So this past weekend I over heard a conversation that was going down between my gran and my girlfriend Bianca. Although it was nothing exciting and I didn't even chip in, I sat and listened, applying it to my current situation.

Over a year ago Bianca had bought my gran a gift, a nicely wrapped pot plant. It came in a nice bow but there was no plant. The label read, "White Orchid" and the pot had some soil in it.

The whole idea behind this was that you got to grow your own white orchid and it was up to you to make sure it was looked after... obviously.

There was no seed to put in the soil, it all came together. You had to water it daily, make sure it got the right amount of sun exposure and trust that it would grow into a beautiful white orchid, you didn't even know if it would turn out to be an orchid you just had to trust that it would.

You can probably see where I'm going with this, so I'll cut straight to the chase.

After an entire year of my gran catering to the seed, it had only begun to blossom 2 weeks ago.

It was like I was meant to hear this and apply it to myself and Wealthy Affiliate.

My gran was persistent and dedicated to doing the same things every day, she had no idea of what the outcome would be or if anything would ever happen but she trusted the process, stayed consistent and a year later the White Orchids started to grow and blossom into intricate flowers.

Now, I've bought a couple of bouquet's of flowers and some roses in my time but this was the first time I've actually taken the time to study the Orchid flower, the detail and symmetry is unreal.

So while having a good look at it, I couldn't help but picture my future turning out the same way as the flower.

My gran knew what had to be done, she had been given something with a promise that if you do what your supposed to, it will flourish. There was no time stamp on it or time limit, I don't even know if Orchids take a year to grow but this one did. She stuck to it and did the same thing every day with no sign of progress or reward. Consistency paid off.

The dedication to stay persistent and consistent is the key to achieving you goals.

Wealthy Affiliate is obviously much more challenging but apply the same logic, you have no idea what the can happen if you trust the process and ride it out here.

That's some Monday motivation.
