Why I’m Glad I Keep Messing Up.
Mistakes are feared. I mean, what if I mess something up? It's probably easier just to avoid taking the risk, so I don't make a mistake....right?
Actually, that is entirely the wrong mindset and one I have always worked to avoid.
Mistakes happen. I still make tons of them. Every day in fact.
I don’t go into new projects worrying about what might go wrong... I just know something will go wrong, so that is an assumption. And that’s fine, because every mistake gives me more data. More perspective. More awareness of what to avoid next time.
Without that, I’d be driving blind.
People often think success means avoiding mistakes. It doesn’t. It means learning fast enough that your mistakes stop costing you as much time, money, and energy. Every misstep sharpens your instincts for the next one.
That’s how you get efficient. That’s how you move faster.
Every failed campaign, every bad hire, every missed opportunity... they all turn into signals. When you look back, those signals form a roadmap.
You start recognizing the patterns. You start predicting the turns before they happen.
Mistakes are a requirement forYOUR growth.
At Wealthy Affiliate, we see this every day. Not just in our business, but also the difference in between those that thrive. People take action, make mistakes, learn, adjust, and then succeed faster than they ever thought they could.
It’s not about getting it right the first time... it’s about keeping momentum while you learn.
So don’t worry about avoiding mistakes. Use them. They’re your map forward.

Very true.
We don't know what we don't know.
So, we have to move forward and learn as we go.
Yes, we can research until the cows come home, but the truth it, we will still mess up. It is better to get on with the messing up as quickly as possible, and learn (and succeed).
Absolutely....and there is only one way to find out (DOING). Those that speculate on outcomes, are nothing more than speculators. Those that find out what the potential outcomes are, are those that will achieve. I know this from experience.
Thanks for sharing your insights here. ;)
Advice to anyone who is still hesitant to get started. Kyle says it so well that mistakes should not hinder progress, they should refine it, on the contrary.
Thank you for this clarity and honesty.
So, how can we distinguish a constructive error from a repetitive pattern that really slows down growth?
Is it a question of intuition, method, or feedback?
Very good encouragement for people who might get frustrated and need to hear something positive out of something someone might see as purely negative.
It is. Let's keep doing something even if it's not perfect yet. By time, it will be better. We will get better at the end, and that's what matters the most.
This is so true, Kyle.
How many times does a child fall learning to walk. But they don't give up. Neither should we.
Thanks for the great post.

A lot...the same as we continue to fall as we try to learn stuff. The thing is, most people stop learning stuff when (with frequency) when they get out of school, and because of that they never accomplish much.

This is such a powerful perspective, Kyle. Thank you for the reminder that mistakes aren't roadblocks, they are data points!
I often get stuck worrying about perfection, but your point about learning fast enough to keep momentum is gold. It truly shifts the focus from avoiding failure to embracing growth.
Time to treat every misstep as a necessary part of the roadmap!
Yeah, they are data points. If you approach business in this way, you will be much more successful online. :)
