I think you can edit the post with the image and the link in the text.

This is how I do it. When you create post and reach Post settings, choose Monetization, then Add Product Links and there add the affiliate link in the "url" field.
I have attached the relevant screeshots. I hope it helps.

That may be the case. I work on my Facebook Page and not a personal profile. Here is AI overview about inserting an affiliate link in a post (in caption or the pinned comment) on personal profile.

Strange. Normally, you create a post, write the text (paste the link), and upload the image to it. You can also copy an image from your computer and just paste it into the post using keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl + V) and it can work.

Let me know how you are doing it and what it actually says (what you are seeing).
