AI Didn’t Break Reality. It Gave It to Everyone.

I read a comment recently that made me pause.

Someone wrote something along the lines of:

“AI is 99% bad. Now you cannot even trust video anymore. AI will end humanity within 30 years.”

That sentiment is becoming more common as AI improves. The technology is moving incredibly fast, and when people see realistic images and videos being created by machines, it naturally raises questions about what is real and what is not.

But there is something important that often gets missed in this conversation.

Video has never been purely “real.”

AI did not break reality. It simply gave more people the ability to shape it.

Media Was NEVER Fully Real. That's The Thing.

For decades, Hollywood has been creating things that never happened.

Entire cities destroyed. Superheroes flying through the sky. Aliens, monsters, futuristic worlds.

All of that is CGI.

The difference is that creating those visuals used to require enormous budgets, massive production teams, and expensive technology. Only major studios, advertising agencies, and production companies had the resources to do it.

Today that barrier has mostly disappeared.

One person with a laptop can now create things that previously required a full production studio.

The Real Change Is WHO Has the Tools. (hint, it's YOU).

The big shift is not that fake media suddenly exists.

The shift is WHO gets to create it.

In the past, a small number of companies controlled the tools that shaped the media we consumed. Now those tools are becoming available to anyone with an idea.

A single creator can build cinematic videos, realistic images, animations, apps, and entire digital experiences from their home.

That is not just a technology upgrade, rather it is a FULL power shift in creativity.

And when power shifts, people understandably feel uneasy at first.

We Have Seen This Pattern Before...

History has gone through similar moments.

The printing press changed who could publish ideas. The internet changed who could build businesses.
And social media changed who could reach audiences.

Each time, people worried about misinformation, chaos, or the loss of trusted sources. Some of those concerns were valid.

But something else happened at the same time.

Creativity EXPLODED.

Suddenly millions of people could build things that previously required institutions...and AI is simply the next stage of that progression.

Of course there are challenges.

Deepfakes exist. We are seeing that in the Iran war, events that didn't exist being portrayed as though they did. Sometimes being so accurate and legitimate feeling, it becomes indistinguishable.
This means that misinformation can spread faster and that we will need better systems for verifying sources and authenticity.

But focusing only on the risks (which many are) ignores the opportunity.

Millions of people who previously had almost no creative leverage now have powerful tools in their hands. Let's look at a little example of how this is impacting the "video" production world, and how it has transitioned from the internet opportunity age...into the creator powered world.

The Creative Power Shift

A teenager can create a cinematic scene. Someone in their basement can now build high quality action skits. A small business owner can produce professional marketing ads without an ounce of technical knowledge. A solo creator can design software that once required a full engineering team.

That kind of access would have sounded impossible just a few years ago.

So Let's Ask The Real Question.

So the real question is not:

“Will AI create fake content?”

That has always existed in one form or another.

The real question is this:

What happens when creative power moves from a few thousand companies… to billions of people?

Because that is the shift we are entering right now.

It may feel messy at first. In fact, it's going to and with new technologies, that is a certainty.

But history tends to show that when tools become accessible to everyone, innovation does not shrink.

It multiplies.

And in many ways, we are just getting started. These are exciting times.
