Just got this email from Google!
I just got an email from Google, letting me know that me brand new website has already gotten 20 clicks from searches in Google. My website only has a total of 4 pages, with one post added just last night.
This website (SkillfulBasketball.com) is the one being built in the Core Niche training, and it is also the one that I will be building out moving forward. I built all of the content using Hubs, the Designer and the Author platforms here.
Now this is a "side" project, and something that I am unable to commit my focus to full-time as I of course am business most of my waking hours working on WA side projects, but this shows you that YOU can get traffic, it can happen fast, and it can happen early using the tools and platforms here!
Traffic leads to OPPORTUNITY. Traffic leads to your ability to generate revenue and there is an abundance of traffic available to you out there!
Now go get it!

Even as a side project, you're already seeing tangible results, which is incredibly motivating.
As you mentioned, traffic opens up opportunities for revenue generation and growth.

Yeah, lots of other things going on but it is still my goal to build out both of the core run websites, and you will see this happen through time here. :)

I appreciate that you can't do everything, but I think it would be great if you could build websites and document what you have done, which I guess you are really. It would be a great advert on how the training really works, etc, and how quickly and realistically you can build an online business. Just a few thoughts!😃

Hi Kyle. Not been on the site for over a month due to ill health and wanted to say well done for your new website. I may have to be resting for a total of 3 months. while I was in hospital I also started a web page and have joined Google analytics. I started with my website the 1st week in December and was just taking my time and I also have 4 pages published. Looking at my analytics I have 167 views on my pages but the oddest thing is most views are in the USA,,,,53, UK ....25, Belgium.....9, and Germany....7. It shows 94 Sessions, 167 page views, Avg Session Duration....21sec..Bounce rate =77.6.
That is a good sign, and I wouldn't say that traffic is too abnormal. People will access your website from every country in the world and if this is search traffic, it is likely because you are ranking well within Google search in the USA, UK, Belgium, and Germany.
You are doing great David, and as you immerse yourself here within WA we are going to put you on a trajectory for growth!
Kyle.... when did you create your site, btw? I know it's the training course, but not sure when you filmed that and created the site content.
Where are you falling in results? My best google result is rank 13, but most are falling around 30-50.
Hence, driving the traffic over from facebook.
I created it as a .siterubix.com website back in December, just getting around to building out the content now though.
I am about 45 or so average overall now, but as I start building out the content I am sure this number is going to continue to climb.
What I would suggest you do is consistency. Not every article will rank, but many will and under many search terms. Don't focus too much on "broad, high traffic" keywords either, Google is in the process of building out the long tail of the internet and that is where the opportunity is. Being specific and Hubs will really help you zero in on that.
Yeah, I've been focusing more on long-tail stuff, and different keywords for each post. I'm up to 25 posts so far and am averaging a post a day. I've also noticed my impressions rising (although clicks are still single digits) as I've added more content. Just using math rank and ensuring each post has a SEO score above 90. Also using Schema and TextRazor to get technical SEO entities setup for each post. And of course ensuring my long tail keywords have a QSR < 100 and ideally < 50 on Jaxxy.
By not focusing on broad, high traffic, I'm still assuming we want keywords that have QSR < 100, correct?

I've had a couple organic search clicks, but my main drive has been via a $3 a day budget w/ a Facebook add. I just cracked 600 unique users and my site's only been up for 2 weeks. My associated Facebook site has 30 followers, and the ad has 300 likes and 30 shares.... So I plan on continuing to leverage the Facebook ads as my content gets indexed and increases in the rankings.
I've also spun up Telegram, Reddit, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter accounts for my site as well, and am using Blog2Social to auto-share my posts to all those networks when they're published.

Thanks! I'm honestly just trying to get a good honest, organic following. This has become much more of a passion and discipleship project for me than I expected. I'm queued up for Google AdSense, and sure, I could add some Christian affiliate links, but right now I'm just trying to get that organic growth going and get daily content out there.
Definitely wouldn't have been able to get started and make this happen without WA!
Well if it has become a passion project, you will never have to "work" a day in your life. That is the goal!
You will want to have your own domain before you can start to rank. Until then, you are on a DRAFT website, so when you are ready move over to one of the Premium memberships, upgrade and you will be off and running.

Thanks for sharing this Kyle and good job! This gives me hope for my website. How do you get your post photos to show up in your home page menu of your posts on your website, skillfulbaseketball.com? I tried looking in the menu section of WordPress and cannot figure that out. The pictures w/ the post listing on the home page make it "pop" for the viewer and entices them to click on the post link, so I want my site to do that too like yours does. I posted a screenshot, but not sure if you can see it. Thank you!
