If You Have an Idea, You Are an Artist. Full Stop.

If You Have an Idea, You Are an Artist. Full Stop.

There is a debate happening right now that I think is completely missing the point.

People are arguing about whether AI-generated art is "real" art. Whether the people creating with AI tools are "real" artists. Whether something counts if a machine helped make it.

I have heard this argument before. And so have you. Because it happens every single time a new creative tool comes along.

The Argument About Artistry That Never Dies.

When cameras were invented, painters said photography was not real art. You are just clicking a button. There is no craft. No skill. No soul.

But a photographer does not just click a button. They see the angle. They feel the light. They frame the moment that everyone else walks past. The camera is the tool. The idea is the art.

When Photoshop and digital design tools showed up, traditional artists said the same thing. That is not real art. You are just dragging things around on a screen. Anyone could do that.

But anyone did NOT do that. The people who created incredible things in Photoshop had vision. They had ideas that needed a medium to come to life. The software was the tool. The idea was the art.

And now here we are again. Same argument. Different tool.

Evolution of Artistry

What Actually Makes You an Artist?

Here is what I believe and I will say it plainly.

If you can pick up a brush and bring an idea from your head onto a canvas, you are an artist.

If you can look through a camera lens and capture an angle, a feeling, a moment that existed only in your imagination until you clicked the shutter, you are an artist.

If you spent years learning Photoshop or Illustrator or any digital platform and you use those skills to create something from nothing, you are an artist.

And if you can sit down with an AI tool, describe a vision that lives in your head, refine it, shape it, push it until it matches what you saw in your mind... you are an artist.

The tool changed. The artist did not.

The art has ALWAYS been the idea. The vision. The thing you saw that nobody else did. The tool is just how you got it out of your head and into the world.

The Gatekeeping Has to Stop...

Every generation of artists has tried to pull the ladder up behind them. "The way I create is the real way. Your way does not count."

But creativity has never been about the difficulty of the process. It has never been about how long it took or how much you suffered to make it. It has been about the idea. The perspective. The thing that made someone stop and feel something.

A painting that took 200 hours is not automatically better than a photograph that took a fraction of a second. And a photograph is not automatically better than something created with AI in 30 seconds. What matters is whether it connects. Whether it communicates something. Whether the person who made it had something to say.

And right now, more people have something to say than ever before. They just never had the tools to say it visually. Until now.

This Is Why We Built What We Built.

Kre8or

This is exactly why we created tools like Image Studio at Wealthy Affiliate and why we are building Kre8or. Not to replace artists. To unlock them.

There are people in our community right now who have incredible ideas, perspectives, and creative visions that they have NEVER been able to express visually. Not because they lacked creativity. Because they lacked access to the traditional tools.

They could not afford design school. They did not have years to learn Photoshop. They could not hire a designer every time they needed a visual for their business. But the ideas were always there. Waiting.

AI did not give these people creativity. They already had it. AI gave them a way to let it out.

And what I am seeing our community create right now is proof that the idea was always the hard part. The tool was just the barrier.

The Real Question...

The debate about whether AI art is "real" art is going to fade the same way it faded for photography and digital design. It always does. Because the work speaks for itself.

The real question is not whether AI makes you a real artist.

The real question is...what ideas have you been carrying around that you have never been able to create? What have you always wanted to build visually but did not have the skills or the tools to bring to life?

Because right now, the barrier is gone. The only thing between the idea in your head and something the world can see is you deciding to create it.

I would love to see what you are working on. Have you created something with AI that surprised you? Something you never thought you would be able to make? Share it below. This community is full of artists who do not realize it yet, and to me I find that so intriguing and inspiring.
