Are You Present in Your Business? (Google Knows)
Google is constantly making changes to their "search algorithm", and for those that are actively working to rank their content in Google, this can be good or bad news. Good if you see your rankings go up of course, bad if you see your rankings and traffic dip.
Both are going to happen in your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) journey, but your success is typically going to be dictated by how your react to your rankings going "down", not up.
Let me explain.
When you see your rankings go up, you naturally celebrate. That is great. You typically react to this by doing more of what you are doing, which hopefully leads to more rankings, more traffic, and subsequently more revenue.
When you see them go down, you tend to get frustrated and annoyed. It is natural instinct to stop doing what you are doing. This means no publishing new content, and in some cases, totally neglecting your business.
But this is the WORST thing you can do. This simply exaggerates the issues. If you stop producing content, Google will view your website as being inactive and lacking presence.
The worse thing you can do is stop producing content when you see a dip in your traffic, as this could be a Google related issue or just something technical with their algorithm update.
Often times a "Google Core" update will run, and this will lead to an immediate dip in your traffic and rankings, only to see traffic and ranking growth in the coming months as the update settles.
So don't stop. Don't quit.
And make sure you remain present in your business, in particular during downswings. That is when you really need to push because if you don't, then Google will only hit you with subsequent ranking and traffic punishment.
Show search engines you are present by being active within your website. Continue publishing content with frequency. Continue targeting low competition, highly relevant keywords. Continue working to get engagement...and continue to expand your knowledge about online business as well as your niche.
Stay present. Reap the rewards.
Are you always present in your business? Have you been through a dip in traffic or rankings, and reacted in one way or another as a result? How did you react?
I would love to hear your feedback and experiences on this topic. Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Hi Kyle, I haven't been working on my website because I have been doing my training I am starting Level 2 Lesson 8. I know that I am somewhat slow but I am taking notes while I going through the video. This helps me a great deal while and I working on it. I don't have to memorize the information I just write it done. Then I start working on my site.
I haven't experienced that anything like that. But I don't want anything to happen with my site.
Mary
No problem Mary, just be aware that you want consistent activity taking place on your website as you build it out. Naturally this will happens as you move through the training and complete the tasks, but beyond that you will want a plan for scaling out your business.
You are doing great though!
Hi Kyle, Thank you and I will be working on my website today as a matter of fact. And I will be working on a lot of content soon. I am just been doing the research for the
keywords. I have just been wrapped up in my lessons that's all.

Hi Kyle,
I had paused adding content to my MMO site because I changed focus to two new websites. After a member in WA helped me to dramatically change my static Home Page to what I really wanted I decided to result writing content.
There was a gap of 5 months between my last post and my recent two posts. I was amazed that both of these new posts got ranked on all the search engines in the top 10. Bing and Yahoo ranked them at #1. Google at #2. Within three days no less,
Before I wrote these posts I took some latest classes on Keyword Research. As well as read the insights of Partha. I put what I learned into practice. The results speak for themselves.
As I write new posts I shall be incorporating what I have learned and see if I get the same results. For Black Friday I shall be combining this practice with PPC as you have advised. Hopefully, I shall be seeing more traffic and more WA referrals too.
I don't let the changes in. Google worry me. As long as I write with the reader in mind, that is all that matters to me.
Cheers.
Edwin
Well it sounds like you have some really good authority in search engines still Edwin, that is a very good sign and armed with this information, you will want to scale out your content and get more "tentacles" out there getting your rankings, traffic, and driving revenue for your business.
As you move more energy into your MMO site, I look forward to seeing it scale out. :)
100%.
About a month ago, my daily traffic dropped by about 60%... And I leaned right into becoming discouraged about it. Kept up with maintenance, but worked on other things as I figured something had gone wrong - definitely just overthinking things.
Fast forward a bit, and my traffic/rankings jumped right back to where they were before. Ups and downs through the algorithm updates are inevitable, and I let myself slip "mentally" by thinking I'd lose those rankings forever... And I absolutely felt like all of the work writing all of those thorough posts meant nothing in the end lol.
It's much better to keep trekking forward. I went from 150-200 clicks per day down to anywhere between 20-50 clicks per day. Yeah, it wasn't fun to see that, but things went right back after about a month. I should have kept creating more and more content, as I'm certain that the content that I would have written during that "down time" would have gotten ranked once everything else got back to high rankings as well.
It's certainly disheartening and worrisome to see that, in any moment, Google's algorithm could screw you up and it can feel like all of that work was for nothing... But it's not like that at all.
Don't give up, and don't give into overthinking things if traffic dips - it's a natural result while Google constantly updates and tweaks its search engine. 👍 Great post Kyle
Same for me, I got hit on the very last day of the September update on 9/26. Traffic mostly disappeared. Then about four weeks later, another update came, and traffic is going up again.
Thanks for sharing your story here Colton, this is exactly what I am referring to here and the natural reaction to any decrease in business is to get annoyed, and stop doing what you are doing for most (as it feels like a waste of time). The problem is that will exaggerate the issues and in most cases, you haven't done anything wrong it is just Google finding its way around the new algorithm updates.
Businesses will go through peaks and valleys. How you react to a valley, will dictate the height of your next peak and ultimately the next peak should always be higher than the last if you are relentless towards your goals.
Very great insight here Colton!
Thanks for sharing Steve, and it is great to hear that your rankings came back along with your traffic being on an upward trend. This is how it shakes out all-to-often after a Google Core update!
That's why hence the reason am here relating back to your blog that am here present in my business because I am fed up of pass dips in my life I want a constant flow of traffic not just only to rank but to be out of all dips and struggles so that I can have a total change in my life so can be healthy and happy
Yeah, dips will happen in life and business. Those that push through these dips and remain present, are those that experience growth and a much more positive outcome. Something to remember as you do move forward!
Forward am already there and still going and so sure about that because the experience that I have , the pain that I felt inside whilst am in dip mode if I had a toothache I probably wouldn't know the difference with the pain I felt when you know that you're permantly employed and that you have to be counting down each time and moments that make up each month to depend on one only source of income because there's outstanding bills to be paid, your kids have needs that you could hardly come up to par to make them happy and your wife seems like she don't believe in you no more because you always bringing short comings, hey I know what it is feel to be nailed to a cross to experience that no remorse of pain to be financially crippled. Right now am in WA. and am begging to you guy's I NEED YOUR HELP ! I NEED MY LIFE TO CHANGE and I believe am in the right place and am ready
I too believe I am in the right place, Press on my brother, there is a greater light ahead.

OoPS! Kyle I have been still ranking great until these last 7 days and not certain of where I am even though I know Google loves me! I have gotten off track these past few days due to my illness and trying to get some in-home health help. But I am jumping back in on my websites tomorrow and the game again.
Well that can happen, you will fluctuate positions as you build out your website and as Google runs Core updates. The key is to keep pushing out fresh content so Google knows there is an entity behind your site...and this activity will help you in both times of ranking improvement, as well as when you see a dip in rankings.
Thank you Kyle I needed that pep talk.
Getting sick is not allowed, hope you get better rather quickly
