There is great appeal to AI (Artificial Intelligence) generated content these days, with the popularity of tools and platforms that allow you to efficiently generate content from AI Engines like OpenAI.

I can appreciate the draw. It is simple, fast, and it generates very convincing content. You can literally create a 1,000 word article, that is 100% unique in a matter of seconds.

The problem. As quick as you create your content, it can be detected as AI generate by simple tools online. And the leaders in the search engine space, Google and Microsoft are the leaders in the AI space.

So be forewarned before you try to publish AI generated content on your website.

It is very easy to detect, and as a result websites that are hoping to gain SEO benefits from content being spun out of AI engines are going to be disappointed, in fact, they are more likely to be devastated and removed from search altogether.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Are you using AI content tools in your business?

Got this today in my inbox. Matthew Woodward has posted a case study on AI detection. It's more widely used than you might think.

It makes me wonder about getting content created for you. Are writers trustworthy to not use AI tools to shorten the task? It takes all my time to check for grammar and spelling to have to check for AI too would be impossible.

Another issue comes to light. Who uses Grammarly to check their posts? It uses AI software to re-write and gives suggestions. If you use those does it come up as AI-written content? I'm sure it's minimal but you can see where those with poor English could use it to correct larger pieces of content and cause AI checkers to highlight that content as AI wrote.

I use Grammarly all the time and it does make my articles and blogs much tighter and more concise.

Any writer's work that you are sourcing content from, should be double check through AI detection software. If they are creating AI content, they should immediately be let go and you should let anyone creating gigs and write in your gigs that you do not allow any AI content.

originality.ai is about the best detection tool that I have seen thus far.

Mark that will become a problem. I write and sell PLR and write from scratch. So for PLR users that do this the there will be a huge benefit.

I'm with you Kyle on this one AI content is not what is needed. If someone cannot create their own content without a problem then they should not be on a website. One of the greatest problems with working with AI is that they give no human perspective to the content. Readers and buyers look for information from other humans not AI

On the content side, there are applications to outlining your content, and helping with concepts and ideas. But the actual content itself should not be created using AI as it is easily detected, and it will adversely impact your rankings in Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Glad I decided to read this post tonight. I already published an article using Ai, I rewrote the first paragraph with my key words. For now on I am just going to use it as a tool for outline and ideas. I knew it was to good to be true lol. What I am wondering is , is it the fact that you are copying and pasting that flags google or is the actual content , as being to perfect maybe?

The video answered my question. This is a serious issue. It could wipe out a lot of businesses.

Use it for an outline, don't use it to create content and rewrite. If you are doing that, you are going to be better off from a time and quality standpoint of just writing the article in your own words Jerry!

I have a content team who are now mainly AI content-drivers. It's working, but it's not a quick solution - you need to put in the work and budget to stay on the good side of the search engines and your audiences.

I've seen the good and the bad sides of this:

Bad side:
I took on an experimental project which web0scraped thousands of pages, and re-wrote them in bulk. Terrible quality, but it got up as high as 11,000 hits per day. However, it got google-slapped very quickly, and is hardly ranking at all now.

Good side:
Using a mix of quality software and heavy human-involvement, you can use the bots to write out the bulk of your articles, and then use those as the framework. However, you or your writers need to then get in there to fact check clean up the grammar, and make sure it's all actually useful and helpful content.

The reality of using bots is that you can't rely on them to replace human writers. It's like a nail-gun: Faster than a hammer, but you shouldn't touch it unless you are an experienced builder.

Very important to remember: The AI can't think of anything new. You also need to fix up the articles so that they are relevant NOW, not just relevant up to 2019.

I agree with you Jesse, a hybrid of both AI and human is going to be the magic mix in the short term. AI certainly is not in it's current state going to replace a lot of jobs, the code it produces is very low quality, as is the content.

But it performs some things very well, like getting information, performing research, helping with idea generation, etc....and this is where it can really speed up the efficiency in ones business (and help them come up with new concepts). Also, how you seed information to AI will dictate your response so part of using AI with efficiency is understanding the ideal input. People and software that gets good at that, will be able to create useful applications.

AI will evolve over time, and get much better. But currently the engine is a bit dated, and definitely the data is outdated. When they can somehow seed it with real time data (which is going to create all sorts of attribution lawsuits IMO), it will be a really powerful engine. But we just don't know how this looks at this point.

AI may be killing content but using AI (ChatGPT) most certainly is not. Treat ChatGPT as a personal assistant like Siri and feed it commands.

Like enter the top articles for keyword and ask it to extract the topics from the content. Do it one by one, and you have (at the end of it) a list of all topics covered.

Then give it your keyword, the list of topics by the top 5 articles and ask it for a complete list of topics that are not in that list. Boom! You have a unique approach to creating an article, and Google loves new angles to current topics.

You can get even more granular and ask for entities within the top 5 articles (paragraph by paragraph) and ask for entity density.

ChatGPT can also be used for finding top selling products to review and even help you to create a new physical or digital product (feed it reviews and ask it how to help you create a better product.

As long as your commands are good, it will help you.

You can also use it to help you with number of tasks (including coding) and meta descriptions!

AI when used well will help your business....as long as you are not using it to create content for you.

Absolutely, there is so many uses to OpenAI and that will continue to evolve with time...but there are some real questions that are yet to be answered by AI.

It is great for research, but maybe not data. It is great for coming up with ideas, but not writing out content.

We have already implemented it within our platform, and we are using it within the Niche Finder AI tool here...and we have lots of implementations of AI that are going to make life easier, and make the process of building a business much more efficient.

What we are not going to recommend are practices that will hurt someone's business and that is outputting content for the purposes of SEO using these platforms. Not to say, the content isn't of quality most times and that it can't be used for others thing (email marketing, ppc, etc).

Agreed! Using AI for ideas seems fine, but you have to do your own original writing to make it unique and personal to your style. Just my two cents.
