Why Small Blogs and Businesses Should Embrace Bing
As a blogger who’s embarked on a journey to share my thoughts and stories with the world. I value authenticity and strive to write in a way that's relatable to my audience. However, as I navigate the digital landscape, I've encountered an unexpected challenge with the ever-changing SEO landscape: the complete invisibility of my blog on major search engines (aka Google).
The Struggle for Visibility
When it comes to search engine dominance, Google is the giant in the room. But as I've discovered, this comes with a huge set of challenges for smaller websites. Despite my best efforts to optimize my content for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), my blog seems to get lost amid countless results from established businesses with far larger marketing budgets. You can't find my website on google even if you type it’s website address into the browser. That's akin to having your business address lead your customers to a nearby big box store instead of your front door.
Why Bing Might be the Answer
Here's what I’m thinking: Maybe the solution to being overlooked isn't to fight harder for Google's attention, but to explore and promote alternatives like Bing? And this is why small bloggers and business owners should consider doing the same:
- Less Competition: Bing may not be as vast as Google, but this can work to our advantage. With fewer sites competing for top spots, there's a better chance for your blog to stand out.
- Diverse Audience: Bing users form a unique segment of the internet population. Catering to this group could bring a different kind of reader to your blog—those who might appreciate your distinctive voice.
- Cost-Effective Advertising: Bing Ads are often reported to be less costly than Google Ads. This can be especially beneficial for small businesses with limited advertising budgets.
- Ease of Integration: Promoting your blog on Bing can be as simple as submitting your website to Bing Webmaster Tools and ensuring that your sitemap is updated.
- You can be found: If someone types your web address into Bing your website will pop up in the search usually on the first page.
Encouraging a Shift
As someone who's experienced the frustration of being "unfindable," I want to encourage other small and micro businesses to consider diversifying their search engine strategy. And writing a note on your promotional materials that says, “find us on Bing.” (If you don’t chances are you won’t be found.)
I agree that Google is a powerful tool, but you are definitely competing with all the big corporations and fine-tuned bots that might not like the structure of your authentic content. Honestly there may be a better opportunity to carve out a niche with Bing's audience.
By doing so, we may not only improve our visibility but also connect with readers who value and relate to our authentic voices. In a world dominated by digital giants, it's time we explore new paths to be heard and recognized. And use those paths while they still exist.
In conclusion, don't be discouraged by challenges with SEO. Instead, utilized a diverse strategy of on and offline methods, embrace the alternatives and create a space where your unique voice can shine. What do you think? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.

This makes so much sense, Kundi!
Google can feel like an uphill battle, especially for small blogs and businesses.
It’s nice to have another way for people to find your content without fighting against giant corporations for a spot on page one.
Do you think more people will start shifting their focus to Bing, or will most still stick with Google?
Kind regards,
Boris
Well, I think people like having options. As long as Bing continues to improve, and we intentionally recommend our readers and customers to use Bing. I think good things can and will happen. If some move more will follow and it will be enough for those of us who have small blogs and businesses.
I'm just not sure Google is for people like me, because the first page of google seems to have a lot of paid ads. And bots decide how the long the content should be and how it should be structured. As readers we miss out on the puns, and jokes and nuances of human language because bloggers are co-opted into a standardized system of article writing. We're all writing to a standard set by Google for the sake of getting Google SEO.

Certainly seeing more traffic from Bing rather than the Big G these days my friend.... let's see what happens!!!
I'm very interested in seeing what will happen. I'm okay with Google being for the heavy hitters, as long as there is some place for the rest of us, you'll find me there. 😁
Me as well at the moment my friend!
