Never Halt The Learning Curve!

I’ve now developed 2 very, very different blog sites – 1 on faith and inspiration, 1 on municipal politics. I chose those 2 drastically different areas because they’re topics I’m comfortable writing about, and I’ve spent several years developing my knowledge of these topics. But, having said that, it’s forced me to research, research, research! I can’t write about something without back up info!

One thing I’ve learned from years of experience is that you can never allow yourself to stop learning. For 15 years I developed and taught forestry and natural resource training programs for the provincial government, and for colleges and universities throughout Western Canada. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that at each and every session, I learned something. There was never a time when I walked away thinking I didn’t. Sometimes it was that my facts needed updating, other times it was that I should consider a bullet-proof vest when teaching in the back country. But, there was always a lesson taught to me and to my participants.

I then moved on to working with municipal governments. That was a whole new ball game and the learning curve certainly didn’t cease to amaze me. From learning new legislations to learning how to deal with multiple types of personalities at any given moment meant switching gears rapidly and constantly.

But, it again forced me to keep my mind open and ready to absorb.

Here at WA, I’ve seen a lot of people looking to find their niche, or ways to promote it. While I’m certainly not calling myself an expert, all I can say is please keep your mind open, and absorb all the training and expertise you can find here! It’s like grade 5 math, you may think some of it isn’t necessary, but years down the road it just might lead you to that ‘aha’ moment!

Never stop learning!
