Banned From Site Comments! Oops
Hi everyone, this post is a little humorous as well as a learning tool!
I went to the Site Comments page to leave a couple comments to others and found a Red Response saying my comments were either reported as being inappropriate, spam, or low quality and I was not allowed to leave any more comments.
I chuckled to myself in disbelief as I feel I am thorough and try to leave helpful comments. I scrolled down the page eager to see why and saw many "Disapproval" from the site's I had previously visited.
Shocked, I clicked on the little + sign to see why. The reasoning is because I left Site Comments and not Post Comments. :(
When I visit another member's site, I actually would leave a comment about their product on their actual website. I remember being a little confused going back to the Site Comment Page and there was the empty box asking for another comment.
So this is where I got confused and went ahead and left comments about their site as well. I didn't know this comment actually went to their website. Oops! So basically I would leave a Post Comment and a Site Comment.
I apologize for anyone that I have done this too. I have learned what NOT to do. :)
Another member in the lovely Live Chat said he was booted from leaving comments too and contacted Site Support and they corrected it. So I will do this and hopefully will leave comments again soon.

Ok sorry I am a bit confused by what your saying, and I am trying to be active and comment. How do I avoid this mistake, because I am not clear on what the mistake is?
She's talking about how the comment exchange tool works. Instead of visiting the author's site and leaving a post comment you need to leave it in the provided boxes to get credit for the comment. If you put a non-related comment in the box you can get banned from using the tool.
Yes, I was leaving the comment on their official website. I now know when you are offering comments, write them in the box provided and not in their website. Also, only leave a comment related to the marketing part, not the site ...

Hi Marcy, what happened was that I left a comment about the site and not the product/marketing.. so this showed up on their website.
I had also left a comment on the actual website which we aren’t supposed to do either.
It is confusing because they sound so similar. Evidently this happens quite a bit. Maybe something can get changed so this doesn’t continue to happen.
Oh ok, I have not tried this yet. Is there a tutorial somewhere to learn how to do this. I am suffering information overload.
Basically, the difference between Comments and Feedback is this;
Feedback - This is about the actual design of the website, the use of color and pics and the layout. It is about the menus and how easy it is to navigate the site, spelling mistakes and grammar, etc.
Comments - These are about the content of the article, the actual subject matter you are reading. U want to ask questions on the subject or relate your experience about the subject. Comment on the actual subject of the article itself and how it impacts you and ask if there anything more u would like to know about the subject, etc. Give value to the content of the article in your comment. Do NOT comment on spelling mistakes or grammar use, wrong words etc., that is Feedback.

I did something similar and got banned. I left feedback instead of a post comment. I PM Kyle and explained it to him and he unbanned me. U may try that to get unbanned too. :)

It's a great thing to know ahead of time for those not familiar with the system. I wouldn't have known about the rpc post to site of the box and would have likely done similar to you and posted a personal review to the site owner after leaving a content review on their website.
I’m glad you learned from me :) They both look and sound similar so I bet it happens a lot.. It won’t happen from me again! :)

You're too nice for them to ban you for more than a day. I think that's called time out or being put in the box.

If you need comments on your site, or practice leaving comments, it is better and safer to get them from here.
The give and take comment thread Need website comments? the give and take comment thread I don't know if you want the banned to remove at all.
We know now not to leave site comments but post comments. Thank you for the warning. I am sorry you had to find out in such a way, but it is good to know.
