Memorial Day
This is a holiday weekend. The actual early kickoff to summer. There
will be parades and barbeques with family or friends.
I feel that we as a nation do not think about what this day actually stands for. Without the sacrifice of these soldiers and sailors making us and continuing to keep us a free nation. Thank God for the sacrifice of lives in the past, present and future.
Did you know that Memorial Day was actually called Decoration Day.
Memorial Day, as Decoration Day gradually came to be known, originally honored only those lost while fighting in the Civil War. But during World War I the United States found itself in another major conflict, and the holiday evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars. I am so glad we have this day.
These brave men and women sacrificed family time for their country without a second thought about their lives. Look at 911 how many young men and women signed up to show their love of the USA. It takes special people to serve our country.
I personally do not feel that we should say Happy Memorial Day, this is a solemn day to reflect on our freedom and the price paid for continued freedom.
May God continue to bless the USA.

Thank God for all these brave men and women do for us. They should always be recognized for their sacrifices.
I do try to share a thank you to all of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be free. They, and their families, deserve every honor we can bestow upon them. My husband and I are involved with Folds of Honor, which provides scholarships to children of fallen service members. It's what we can do and I'll do it as long as I am capable, to thank their families for their sacrifice on my behalf.

Hey, Kathie, great post! I hope you have a great weekend.
The good Lord watched over my dad and brother and sent them home, but many did not. God bless our warriors!
My Dad was a chief in the Navy in WW2, and my brother ranger in the army in Vietnam.
I hope you enjoy some good BBQ, Chet
