New Year! New Niche?

New Year Resolutions are flying left and right, it's only day eight of this year and many have already given up.

New Year, New Niche?

Okay, so my main focus was CBD, I'm passionate about it and I understand it on a chemical and biological level. I support it and believe in it. However, these articles I write for it take a lot of research..... I could never get more than an article or two done per MONTH! I think that was part of my stress. So I began to think of new niches or even continuing with one of the MANY sites I've started and never completed.

Have you ever been there? You love your niche, but you just can't get it done. That's where I'm

at. I have school full time,

I take care of our home (cleaning, laundry, shopping, bills, and cooking) when I'm not studying, take care of my cat (it's not as hard as I make it out to be, but still), I have an officer position with a collegiate honor society, and I actively volunteer. When we have the time, my husband and I travel (or more realistically take tons of mini-vacations). My husband and I are celebrating one year of marriage next week. My life is busy. Even spending 20+ hours per week on WA, I still wasn't getting close to achieving what I needed to. So, what did I do?

New Niche!

Yep. I did that. Writing about food and more specifically, creating meals, is my new focus. Why the change? There's so many reasons. I realize there are plenty of recipe sites out there, but I always had trouble finding ways to put dinner on the table without a stove or oven. CBD takes so much research to ensure that what you're saying is up to date. It's an ongoing ever updating product. Even though the most recent 2018 Farm Bill does appear to make it a lot easier to attain, it's still a work in progress. I need something more fun and less stressful.

You see, as a way to save money, enjoy life, and avoid incurring student loan debt, we live in a studio apartment. This means no stove and honestly no real kitchen. We have a fridge and a kitchen sink. Our cost of living is much lower than most of our peers (30 somethings without kids), but we sacrifice. We love to cook, so this was actually a pretty big sacrifice for us.

For Christmas we got a new small kitchen appliance from my aunt....and fell in love! We had a microwave, toaster, crock pot, and electric skillet. I had considered doing a little blog about food. My husband and I love food (you may be able to tell from our photos). But I didn't think it was worth the time. So, now, I've decided to go with it! New Niche that will get most of my attention. I'll still keep my CBD site and I'll work on it. I'm hoping doing something that seems less intense might be fun and help me hone my skills.

So a simple gift inspired me to try to do a specialty blog for cooking without a kitchen! Will this fail? I hope not. Will this be fun? It already is! I love reading a ton of the recipes online and then customizing them with my own flair and flavor. It's become a fun adventure learning how to cook without a kitchen, but totally worth it.

Do You Blog For Your Niche?

I'm still not totally sure if I'm doing the right thing. However, this fits into my life much easier than my other niche. It's currently almost 1:30am my time. I'll be up by 7:30am to begin my day. So, I think it's going to be worth it. One of the things I remember from the training is that your niche should be something you enjoy. I definitely feel like I made the right decision.

Do you blog for your niche? Do you do reviews of products? Is it okay if it feels more "personal" than "professional"? These are all important questions that I'm still considering for my site. So far, I've just done the basics: privacy policy, affiliate disclosure, and about page.

So for me.... New Year meant New Niche! I don't believe in resolutions, I believing in resolving issues. My issue was I was not enjoying it anymore and I had almost no time. I resolved to find a solution and I think I've done it!
