Pics with words or words with pics? Seo or user experiance...which better?

I am creating my site. realonlinebusinessesthatwork.com I keep writing and writing and I'm thinking that is good because a post should be (guidelines about 1500 words?) but then I remember about sites that are simple and have just a few pics and few words for the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid, (ME not you lol)). Anyway This may be a sort of a question, but involved so I thought I would write a blog about it. For SEO it seems that a long drawn out story or text would help the SEO but hamper the "User Experiance"? But then maybe not If the reader is interested it may be a treasure? A balance of words for SEO and user Experiance? If I get a little more explanation on what I am doing? If the text I am writing is too long I could convert it to a post and rewrite my page as a short one? I can rewrite this blog with the definitive answers if I get some good feedback. Thanks so much for your time reading this. Please reply Thank you!

Here's my thoughts: The word count is not what you should focus on. I 'aim' for around 750 but if I feel I have made my point at 650 or 700 I'm not going to try and cram more useless words in to meet some special number. I even have a few posts that are around 1000. Just depends on the topic.
You should always add images to your posts and keep your paragraphs to 3 or 4 sentences, this makes for easier reading. You should also fill out the alt text on the image (see my post - https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/angelahall/blog/images-get-you-ranked-in-google-too)
I also would recommend if you are using All in One SEO that you switch to Yoast ( https://yoast.com/all-in-one-seo-pack-migration/ ) it helps you by letting you know if you are SEO compliant (it gives you a green light lol).
Here is my thoughts on pages and posts. You should create a category menu and most of what you write should be posts. Then you assign each post to a category and it automatically goes to that menu A page is something that you want to make sure that 'everyone' who visits your site sees.
Hope that helps. Let me know if anything is unclear or if you have any questions. You know where to find me. ;) lol

Thanks Angela!, yes I did change to Yoast, Yes I see what you mean about the green light. Yes...have to change the alt...just have to start somewhere. Was going around in circles awhile back. OK....posts are long and pages are short, in a nutshell? Thats a good idea....so, you get good SEO from the posts being long and a good user experiance from pages being short with plenty of pics? Sounds good! Thanks for taking the time to deal with my problem! I was thinking of breaking the long front page into rest breaks with pictures , so people could digest a long page into many bites, Cant eat a big dinner in one bite!
I don't want to shorten it? maybe I'll need to for sure? lol thanks again!

Not exactly lol. The length is not as important as the content. You can have long or short pages - and long or short posts. What matters is what you write covers the topic well without a bunch of BS to 'fluff' it up. Good SEO has more to do with keywords. Yoast helps you with that. If you scroll down to the section under your content in dashboard where you fill in for Yoast - you enter your keyword and it gives the green light if that keyword is in the first paragraph, if the keyword is in a heading and if it's in an alt text description and if it is in your meta tag.

Well, I do try to keep things as short as I can and to write in my natural way instead of just writing for keywords. Maybe that is still too long? I know that for a billboard on the highway I think it is 3 seconds to get the idea across. For websites I heard about the 15 second rule. I hope my site didn't seem too fluffy...but if it is I would rather know that. Thanks Angela!

I prefer to just write as well. I have started writing my post in google docs. That way I can just write and when I am done then I will go back and make a title with my keyword and add the keyword where it needs to be.

I see posts and pages of all lengths and some with pictures some with only a few. As a rule they like for you to have pictures that are relivant to the subject.

Thanks Sharon for reading my blog. I did try to put relevant pics on it. You know there is such a big two edged sword....creating a website has so many options and creative which is or can be good,... and bad, if a person goes down the wrong road? Thanks for your input, maybe I can save my front page easily? Thanks again!

We shall see.

Publish long helpful content. I usually go for 1000 - 2000 words and seems to work.
