Typical weather in my home city of Belfast in the summer is "Rain" and its so depressing, and with everything going on in the world at this moment it looks like the holiday season is not happening. Don't get me wrong the weather in Belfast has always been like this so I'm used to it, but not getting away this year makes the winter even longer.

We have plenty of indoor attractions for day trips like the Titanic Museum which is my image picture, even though I only live around the corner from the museum I have never set foot in it, think when it's on your door step you never get the chance to go. I love the outdoors, going camping and hiking up the mourn mountains. So today is one of those rainy days and 20 degrees so I'm sitting here writing a blog post and continuing with my training at WA as the rain keeps pouring down.

A landmark you would see when you fly into Belfast are Samson and Goliath the Harland & Wolff cranes, although they are a landmark they didn't arrive at the same time in Belfast,Goliath arrived first in 1969 and Samson arrived in 1974 but they have been a landmark for Belfast ever since. When people visit Belfast they ask where they the cranes that built the titanic which was built in 1909 and launched in 1911 from Belfast. It didn't set sail til April 10, 1912, at noon from Southampton,England and went to France then to Queenstown In Ireland before leaving for its main voyage on April 14th at 11.40pm, It hit the iceberg at 12.40am on April 15th.

Pretty Awesome, Kirk! I have always been intrigued by the Titanic!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, you should travel over to Belfast sometime in the future and get the history of the Titanic and visit the museum.
Ronnie

That would be AWESOME, Ronnie!

Kirk,

It's raining here in my part of the US too!
Sounds like you have some lovely indoor attractions to keep someone busy on a rainy weekend in Ireland.
I have never been there but want to make the trip some day.
My dad's family were from Leitrim. No one left there anymore, but still wish to see the beauty of Ireland.

Years ago a coworker was going on vacation and I challenged her to open up all senses to enjoy it more fully. Vintage Travel has videos of vacation spots or maybe there are other videos that you can view and open up all your senses!

Very interesting! I Never knew much about Belfast.

Have you lived in Belfast all your life?

Hi, yes I have lived in Belfast all my life I live about 5 minutes walk from where the Titanic was built, its a different place now from way back in the 1960s when Belfast for the next 35 years wasn't a nice place to be with the troubles, but its a different city now and we get plenty of people traveling here to know about the history of Belfast.
