Responding to a Received Comment should be done thoroughly

tooIt should be a no-brainer when it comes to the response of a comment, you have requested for your post, probably through the SiteComment, in accordance to the person's comment.

As we all do (should) know by now writing a unique and high quality comment on someone's post/article, is one of the important keys to get it higher ranked in Search Engines like Google & CO.

I don't know how everyone else does it but, I do spend quite some time in reading the person's post and then write my comment.

I also don't know if anyone else does it as I do by checking it out, after my comment has received the "green" light and, got approved, what the response was to my comment.

I do believe that this is the proper way and especially when I left a question in my comment to check it out what might be the answer. I even respond again, although, this doesn't go through the SiteComment but, I do it anyway.

In recent days, I have discovered that some comments of mine, even though, they got approved there was no "back" comment from the post owner.

Some website owners just want the comments, I think, but can't be bothered to leave a comment in response. I am sorry to say this but, for me, this is a shame.

I read the comment of other WA members and can see that they too have put some time into it and don't get even a "Thank you" in response.

Yes, I have taken time issue in consideration and went back a few times to check out if a comment has been posted by now, but nothing.

Perhaps, some people might think I am too pity etc. but I do believe that this is not the case here.

We talk so often about leaving good, well written, unique comments and when we do it right, yes, it does take a bit of our time however; I want nothing else different in return for my posts.

Since Wealthy Affiliate has provided us with this opportunity and tool to leave and receive comments we should appreciate it and this goes for both sides.

I do appreciate your time. Thank you :)

Just my opinion? What do you think?

I absolutely agree with you Sylvia.
It is a bad look when visitors land on a page, read it and are interested to see other people's comments. They read the comments only to find the author/website owner has not bothered to reply.

It doesn't say much for the owner of the website!

I agree Valerie, it doesn't look good. :)

Sylvia,
I try to respond to all of mine within 24 hours
sometimes this could be a bit longer but sure
do not like when it happens.
Susan

Susan I do understand the time issue and actually this isn't so much the problem.
However, when I check the website for more then two weeks and don't see any replies this is a problem.

I agree with you Sylvia,
I also put a lot of time in my comments and will go back to the post once I get the green light to see the response, and if I can I will reply to there reply.
And like you I have come across some that don't reply. To me, it makes them look like they don't really care about people, they're just after the traffic, and they're missing out on more content.
Doesn't make much sense
Kim

Thanks, Kim, I do agree with what you saying. :)

Hi Sylvia - it's been a while since we spoke
I agree totally with the need for good quality comments but I am wondering, as there have been a few posts advising that people are a little confused by Sitecomment, if this activity is being viewed as just a means to get the green tick and not expecting or getting a thank you reply.
Hope all is well with you

Terry

Terry, I was wondering about this too and perhaps, like someone has mentioned in their comment that there should be a training in how to work with SiteComment.
Obviously we can't expect that everyone really understands the proper use of this wonderful tool.
Just my 2 cents. :)

I also suggested that a training on this would be beneficial. Perhaps Jay will oblige when he gets an opportunity

Terry

This certainly would be great :)
Sylvia

Amen Sylvia! We need to add some training on site comments for newbies when they go Premium.

This is a good idea. Thanks for sharing. :)

It is a shame that there are members who do not reply to comments. They are missing a golden opportunity to add additional content to their post or article.

Thanks, Glen, exactly my point as well. :)

Hey Sylvia

I am quite new here and just learning about SiteComment and getting paid for comments or being a certified commentor its a little confusing. I had no idea!!!n

To me this is the greatest thing. I spend anywhere between 30 min and an hour 4-5 days a week reading and commenting on posts. I am trying to build up a great rapport with many in the community.

I often leave thoughtful comments and something that is unique to the person and the post.If I read through a post and the only reply I can think of is one that has already been written or worse a dreaded cliche then I really don't say anything back.

I definitely wasn't aware that there were rules that went along with commenting. I do often wonder if sometimes its peoples personal preferences or the way it has always been so when someone is unfamiliar with the process it comes across as disrespect?

I'm not exactly sure since I'm so new to all of this, but I thought that you would be a great person to shed some light on the subject.

Here's wishing you much continued success.

Thank, April for your comment and thoughts on the mater.

Yes, there are certain rules when it comes to using the SiteComment and giving comments on posts, however, you can't make the site owner respond to your comment.

What some people seem not to understand is the fact that, even though, you are replying to the person's comment it also boosts your ranking.

Search engines don't differentiate between an external or in "internal" comment.

A comment is a comment, the more the merrier and it shows the search engine that there is lots of traffic and interest going on.

Therefore, when someone, who has requested a comment, and doesn't respond to it they actually do hurt themselves.
