7 Things Newbies Think About Internet Marketing (But are DEAD WRONG)
Make money online. If you've been on the internet long enough, I'm pretty sure you've heard that phrase more times than you can count. You probably even fell for "Make Money While You Sleep" e-course that left you feeling like the guy below.
At least you learned not to fall for that crap anymore. But remember when you were a newbie? New to the inter-webs and its tricks. Of course you thought internet marketing was totally different than what you know it to be now, right? Well here's some of the myths you probably believed.
7. Creating a website automatically means you will make money.
For some reason people that are new to internet marketing think that all you need is a website and you'll start rolling in cash. Maybe back in 1998 that was true,but in 2014 there thousands of websites launching daily. Its not realistic to think by just putting up a random website with NO promotion or marketing the next day it will be #1 in the search engines and will be overflowing with traffic. The search engines won't even index your website after one day. So no just having a website does not mean you will be rich within the week. But You are one step closer. Which brings be to my next newbie myth:
6. Internet Marketing does not need to be treated like a real business.
I can't tell you how many times I have heard people say they just want to make money online not start a business. Well I'm sorry to tell you, but you're not going to make much, if anything, if you're treating your website like a hobby than the business that it truly is.
5. You can buy a "secret method" that will "run your business on autopilot" and 'make you $5000 a day GUARANTEED.
Admit it. You've gotten those emails. You've watched those videos with fancy cars and the private jets. You got hooked. And then $500 later you were no closer to being a millionaire. BUT you were $500 poorer. Repeat after me: YOU CAN'T BUY SUCCESS! Got it? Okay. Good. Now stop wasting your money on that crap and start building your business the right way. With good old fashioned hard work.
4. You can go viral just by telling your friends and family.
So you've made your YouTube video or you put the finishing touches on your website. Then you tell all your friends and family about it. Now its time to go viral. Right? Wrong. So so wrong. Unless your cousin is Beyonce, you're not gonna go viral just by telling Uncle Junebug or Aunt Pookie. As much as they love you and they think you're amazing that's simply not enough marketing for you to stop the internet. And even Beyonce knows that doesn't work. See?
