Mini-devotion for Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, Matthew 4:1-4, KJV, "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." I would like for us to consider for a moment there are two types of nourishment: Food for the spirit and food for the body. I must admit that I am guilty far too often of focusing too much on the food for the physical body and ignoring the nourishment of the spirit man. Jesus knew the importance of both, and He knew that the consequences of ignoring the nourishment of the spirit man would be that man's spirit would be malnourished. Each of us has a choice to make. We can concentrate on feeding our inner man, our spirit, and the result will be a more mature Child of God. Or we can concentrate on nourishing our physical selves, all the while committing slow spiritual suicide. Today, may God help us to make a wise choice and decide to pay more attention to our spiritual well being for a change and fill ourselves with the Word of God.

Oh, I so need to do this more. Thanks for the reminder!

I enjoyed reading your mini-devotioin.

Thanks for reading, and God bless you.

Amen and Amen. Very true in deed! Hope we can have a balanced approached towards feeding our spirits as well as the body.

May it be true in each of our lives.

I once read "the wise man is silent because he knows what's going one; the fool is silent because he doesn;t know what's going on." I wonder how the chattier types fare.
