Hey. I've got quite a bit of content that was once ranked well on Google that is now off the charts. If I go in and update the content will it boost it back up? Also, should I
it depends how old your website is Kevin. It is quite normal for a new site to do what is called the Google dance and gotten down in the rankings. It will start to settle after about five months. You may want to improve your article and add more content which will not do any harm. You may also want to check that your keyword research is okay. On the other hand if it is new you may just want to let it settle and it some time
the site is about 8 months old. I'm going to go back and make a few updates. Thanks for helping! Do you know if I should update my publish date when updating content?

Does updating an article boost it's ranking?

Kevin,
Go back through all your posts and take a serious look at all your SEO. Is what you have enough? Chances are there is at the very least one element that could use upgrading, new information added to your post...meta tag...meta title... are pictures properly described in relevance to your post? Yes lots of questions and the solutions are usually right in front of your nose.
I recently went through my entire sight but I used a plugin called RankMath. It opened up my eyes a bit and now understand much better what was needed and why. Now more than 90% of my posts are listed on page 1 in at least 2 of the big 3 search engines.

Should you decide to use this, you will have to deactivate AllInOne SEO to use it. I was worried at first but now I am glad I did it.
Thanks for the suggestion. I uninstalled allinone and use YOAST. Have you had experience with YOAST? I'm assuming I'd have to uninstall that to us seo-by-rank-math. I'll check it out.

I have used YOAST for years and then going through the training, Kyle and WA suggest All in One. It is even built into each site. Is there a disadvantage to using YOAST on a si
Some of the training is specific to the All In One SEO plugin. But it's really a matter of personal preference. I use Yoast.

I added 2018 to my page titles (not url) and it caused my pages to drop up to 20 positions for the previous keywords. However, if I put 2018 in the search term I'm ranking much
There is no mystery Kevin,
As you said, you changed only the title ... Which is an important SEO factor
But you haven't changed the page content!
So "Best _________ for Alaska 2018" ranks on page first when you search, because people are looking for the newest info
But your content is still optimized for "Best _________ for Alaska" and not for "Best _________ for Alaska 2018"
as a result, after changing the title you were "overtaken" by pages that are optimized for "Best _________ for Alaska 2018"
Significant drop in page rank?

Would you prefer to be at the bottom of page 2 or the top of page 3 on google page rankings?
Ha! of course. It just seems like to me that people will blow through the bottom of page 2, but when they flip to page 3 look at the top spot. Just a thought... :)
lol... :o ... didn't think anyone ever went past page 1? ... maybe a grad. student doing really heavy-duty research... lol... :)
