My First Real Blog

To blog or not to blog, that is the question. I have to admit up until joining Wealthy Affiliates, I was a little foggy on what Blog meant. I had heard the term several times but brushed it off as one of those newfangled words associated with the more complicated social media websites. I was the last of my younger friends to join Facebook, and a good amount of my older baby boomer friends still refused to join because they are just not interested in the new technology. I joined LinkedIn to be part of the working-class people, and mainly used it when fishing for a job or connections in the business world. And I found Pinterest when I was collecting wedding ideas, but after the wedding never went back. Which reminds me, I was on the dating sites for a while and that is how I found my husband. So that was my experience to date with social media.

When I was younger and I didn’t know a word, I would look it up, try to use it in a sentence and then incorporate it into my vocabulary. So why didn’t I look it up before now? Well I guess I thought it didn’t apply to me. So when I signed up here, and it asked me to write a blog, I was actually pretty excited about it. I got a badge just for making my profile and setting up an account. My first blog was 28 words and two sentences with 3 likes. That’s it. At the time I thought it was a blog, but now, after reading and learning about blogs, blogging and bloggers, I realize that was just a statement of my accomplishment (although it did contain a valuable opinion). That opinion being this; WA is a great community where you can learn to affiliate marketing at home, at your own pace, with plenty of online support to help you.

Funny thing is, one of the first questions I asked, was “What does blogging have to do with making money?” Duh, looking back I feel foolish. I Google everything else. Why hadn’t I looked up this word yet? Well today, Day 5, I finally googled BLOG, and got a real education. I learned about SERP for the first time, and how writing more blogs drives people to your website. This is exactly what I needed to continue. Because creating the website might be easy, but it’s the writing (blogging) and composing that gives it the content to attract your viewers. Now I feel like a real blogger. And there you have it, I used all 3 words in a paragraph!!!

Thanks Jane, I appreciate the feedback and encouragement. Haven't gotten to CTA yet, but I will look you up when I do since I saw your training on it. Like your profile and what you have to say, so I think I should follow you. Wishing you the best as well!

Likewise, Kerry! 👍👍

Excellent Kerrylee, keep it up and you'll go where you want to go. Best to you.

Thank you, Sir! Not sure what your name is, so I will call you Sir out of respect. Appreciate the encouragement!!!

Edward. Thanks.

For your first week Kerry I would say you are doing better than most, non of us knew these things when we joined.

Take one day at a time and don't get overwhelmed. The training here is the best on the internet in my humble opinion.

Have a great week.

Andy.

Thanks Andy for the vote of confidence!!! When they said creating your website was easy and it shouldnt take long, I thought there was something wrong with me at first. But I have come to realize what you have so gently pointed out, it takes time. One day I got my domain, and then I took a break. The next day, I picked my theme. It's a lot of learning and new stuff to absorb. So I'm going to be a sponge and soak it up at my own pace.

All my best,
Kerry

You've got it spot on there Kerry.

It's not a race, it is a journey to be enjoyed.

Go at your own pace and success will come

Andy.
